In general right now with flooding, it is a terrible time, last week I went in an Oakland drain and had to abort because of how much and how fast the water was flowing.

I actually know somebody who died draining when a storm hit upstream.

They were a couple in Brisbane (Australia, not CA). She posted on Flickr for the both of them, and I had been following their explorations for couple of years before this happened.

I think a lot of people underestimate how quickly otherwise non-threatening and seemingly-in-control situations can get out-of-hand... and how deeply trapped and fucked that feeling is when you realize you have no way out and this is possibly the last, terrible thing you will ever experience. All you will have is an abbreviated story punctuated by one last (possibly stupid and totally preventable) mistake.

Yes, please don't risk it. I know this drain is relatively dry but there is no reason to risk it when you can just wait a couple of days and be safe.

More from that place:

Also check out the album cover paintings towards south, they are worth the trip!

I also set up an art project there recently. I'm going to make more of these if I find the time.

It happened fast.

If it's going to rain, don't drain.

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.
