Story- Trapped in an Abandoned Bank

A couple of months ago three of my buddies and I checked out an abandoned bank outside of Chicago. It was nearly untouched, and the place was absolutely stunning. The basement was sadly flooded with about 3 feet of water and I wasn't about to get into that, but we explored the other 3 floors of the extensive building happily. Anyways, there was one single POE, with our other option being a two story drop from the fire escape on the side of the massive building. On our way out after exploring for nearly 5 hours, we realized that one of the doors leading to the one POE locked behind us. Keep in mind that we were in a bank, and most of the doors leading to anywhere near the vault were bulletproof and unbelievably secure.

After wandering around for nearly two hours trying to figure out what to do, we finally found a crowbar in one of the offices upstairs and proceeded to walk back down to the door.

I and all of my friends are super weak and it took us literally 30 minutes to finally pry the door open.

We were all scared as hell and definitely learned our lesson to check every door before you go through them... especially in a bank.

why not be close to death? as long as you don't poke the bear.

Pictures of this bank are also on my account if you have any interest in seeing those. Pretty beautiful building IMO

This happened to me on a permitted explore of a prison. I now don't go anywhere without duct tape to secure the door latches (not to mention that it's handy for all kids of other stuff too!).

If you do get stuck and there is ABSOLUTELY no way to safely get out call someone to come get you. Failing that call the cops. A misdemeanor is a lot better than serious injury or death.

EDIT:
It's also advisable to walk around a place to look for other POE's. If there's only one make DAMN SURE it's secure.

Horror stories like this almost make me chuckle. I think it's because I'm imagining what your faces must have looked like when you realized the door was locked lol. On my very first explore, I was in an abandoned prison and ran into another explorer. Thankfully, thats been the biggest "oh shit" moment for me so far.

It would be ALOT more fun to keep my mouth shut and mess with you some more. But, you obviously did visit a bank last year. Is this the pics? Maybe you didn't know exactly how to link them. You are pretty new here and maybe would appreciate some help
