A French rooftopper fell to his death earlier this week. Here is the news article with more details, though you might need to have Google translate it.

He was a frequent poster on r/urbanExploration over on Reddit, though apparently his account has since been deleted according to other users.

"Sorry, I didn't know I'm not supposed to be here," he said, knowing full well he wasn't supposed to be there.

I myself am a part of the Toronto rooftopping community, and this was indeed a big upset. Maxime frequently interacted with some of my friends in Toronto, and we knew him as not only a very kind dude, but also one hell of a urban explorer. On the instagram community it's hard to find real and authentic explorers, but he was one of the few. May Maxime rest in peace, <3

18! Jesus. Respect for someone who died doing what he was passionate about. May he rest in peace.

Any info on what happened?
As someone who occasionally rooftops I find it hard to accidentally fall to your death unless you are doing something stupid. I mean no offense to the deceased and in fact I feel very sorry for someone who was only 18 to lose his life. I still wonder how this happened, everyone I go rooftoping with understands that safety is #1 and photos is #2

If you keep your distance from the edge, don't run around and never go intoxicated I cant see how you can have accidents. Even if you want to approach the edge is fairly safe if you approach properly. I wonder if there was some other factor involved in the accident.

Although I did not know this man, I'm sad to hear about his death. So young. I am grateful to him for risking, and eventually giving, his life to bring photographs to us all. Sending virtual support to all those who knew him.

He was scaling a bridge dude, being an "occasional rooftopper" doesn't prepare you for any real climbing, and nowadays any real exploration either. Take the time to read the article above (which has the cause of death), and check out Maxime's Instagram, he clearly knew what he was doing. However accidents can always happen.

No English translation.
Obviously he didn't know what he was doing... there's no room for errors when climbing steel.
Never play on steel.

Exploring but mostly parkour accidents in abandoned places is a problem in my country. On youtube or other media kids gain hundreds, sometimes thousands of likes and encouragement to do something more dangerous. Also, "monkey see, monkey do" effect, there are many channels where some kids are trying to repeat everything, visit the same places, do the same, potentially deadly parkour tricks. Last year there were three lethal cases and one case of a serious spine injury.
There might be twice as more deaths in such large countries as France or Germany, for example.

Accidents can happen to anyone but i think that teenagers just doesn't have the "sense of limit" when it comes about adrenaline. I really do think that some kids who are "doing it wrong" on youtube, should have a lesson, they won't learn until something bad will happen or they will just...grow up and they will change the interest of exploring, probably. What's annoying, they claim "we are proffesionals, nothing bad will happen". That's dumb. Noone could be "pro" at exploring, nobody can predict that suddenly wall or ceiling can collapse.
