#1 is a good shot. A little more depth of field would have yielded a better shot. Try shooting at the len's f/stop sweet spot usually around 5.6, maybe bump it to f/8. Flash is tricky to use, use ambient light whenever possible, light filling is another option.

#2 not working for me at all. The big black void is meaninglessly empty and takes up to much of the image. What looks impressive first hand isn't always captured as such by the cam; try to see as the cam/lense does.

#3 the chopped off chair and the backdrop aren't cutting it; a throw away.

#4 looks like a solid shoot with great colors and contrast. Not enough res to tell for sure about the focus. Focus point should be the house/trees if not.

#5 is a keeper. Playing with the contrast curve might bring it out better. Color may also look better, rust and old paint are pretty.

Thanks for the input!

You're welcome. I like your attitude... keep shooting

On #2, panning back further or flash filling the void may have improved it. Cutting off the bottom was a framing mistake; you can always crop down a high res image but you can't add what's not in frame.

Try using a tripod and ambient light instead of the flash.

Tripod is a good idea but all the indoor shots were taken at about 1am

1 fits for the creepy hallways thread; 2 does seem to include a bit too little - at least the whole doorway. 3 is good as a photo of decay, but it could also just be a photo in a town dump - lacks the urban element. I can see how exposure requirements affected shot 4, but it's beautiful. Shot 5 - a VERY personal opinion, I might try cutting the sides off so that it's a square picture and looks like a tunnel extending from behind one's viewpoint - just to try

That's not possible; the AF lock is where it should be, on the front of the bridge. The f/stop setting renders the back of the bridge as a blurry image which again is fine.
Using a high enough f/stop to captured the whole bridge would have degraded the quality of the shot.
To capture the "tunnel" he have to have gotten a AF lock deeper in.

This is an excellent image of a RR bridge; a great subject, in focus, properly exposure (That's harder to tell without seeing the histogram), well framed and squared off. Other than maybe some adjustments on it's contrast curve it's fine as is.
A stone cold keeper.

They're all underexposed. #2, the top of the arch just grazes the frame of the photo; it would be better to be zoomed in or out or composed otherwise.
