Earlier this week I had the wonderful opportunity to explore an abandoned Cold War era military facility with WIurbex, as well as with an old and a new friend.

This location was one I'd been hoping to get to for a long time, and I'm glad I had a chance to explore it. It was everything I dared hope for and then some, and one I'd love to visit again some day.

Yeah, that would be cool. I imagine it looks so much different when the leaves are on the trees.

Oh my!

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

So would the top of the round building have had the radar dome on it or was there a mount somewhere else.

This site actually had two types of radar. The direction finding radar was the biggest, and sat on top of the rectangular concrete building. #13 shows the mount for that radar on the roof.

This site also had more than one height- finding radar, which were mounted on top of the round buildings you asked about.

So this site had at least three radar systems when it was operational- one direction finding system, and two height finding systems.
