I have never explored less than I did in 2016. I only ended up exploring three different places, although two of those were multiple trips over the course of one or two months. Despite this I still think it was a good year. Hopefully 2017's schedule lets me get out a little bit more.

1. January - April (four or five trips, but not all with a camera)
An old hotel turned office building with a rust-belt demise in the mid-1990s. Soon to be fixed up.

2. April - June
Beebee Station in Rochester. Now sadly demolished. These photos were taken before and during demolition and are the last views of the place before it was gone.

3. August
This is a redevelopment of an vacant county owned buildings. I successfully posed as a construction worker and got access in the afternoon mid-week. An old department store turned offices that will soon be apartments and more offices for a local company.

4. What took most of my time this year was fixing up 1920s home that had sat empty for a few years with three boarded up windows and missing copper piping. Good news is that it doesn't smell like urine anymore and I can actually live here!

That's all. Thanks for looking!

Mmmmmmmmm...... power plant goodness

When I say I'm 'clean and sober', it means I've showered and I'm headed to the liquor store.

Nice stuff! Def a shame about the plant, it had been on my list for when I made the trip south. Good work posing as a worker, it's surprisingly easy at some sites and yet incredibly hard at others.

Cheers

Thanks guys. Yeah, Beebee had been on my list for a long time. It was definitely the best place I have explored to date.

This case of worker identity was definitely one of the easier ones. Although I ran into one other worker and he asked what I was doing. He liked my excuse and said, "as long as you aren't one of those abandoned building photographers."

Thank, it was a keeper that's for sure. Prior to demolition most things were removed. However, the archive room was left, with file cabinets of data on microfilm and a few early 1900s handwritten record books of efficiencies and kWh outputs for certain stations. That was a treat to see.

I would love to have a good year like your bad year. Wow!

Thank you. Three locations over a year is pretty pitiful. Hopefully you get out more than that!
