on a whim decided to do some urbex in chicago last night. usually live about 45-50 min drive from the city itself but sat in weekend rush hour traffic for over 2 hours before arriving at the popular Damen Silos. this explore was well worth the really long wait but unfortunately my camera battery had been malfunctioning while charging all day so it ended up dying after about 3 decent shots. usually when exploring I spend a lot of my time trying to capture as much as I can of a place and making sure the pictures are turning out. I realized this takes a lot away from the actual experience itself because even though I felt naked without my camera I really was able to look with my own eyes instead of my lens at everything surrounding me. don't get me wrong i'll make sure my battery is fully charged for future adventures and definitely plan to continue capturing as much as I can but it was also nice to take a break and really take this whole place in for myself. here's the few pictures I did end up getting (inside the warehouse on the silo grounds). Definitely would've preferred this as a day time explore but my friends are in high school and can't go out during the day.may be in for a re-visit over their winter break! 1.
