A closely-guarded taboo zone hidden in the woods: the Soviet military city Wünsdorf in Germany. 75.000 people used to live here – but for German citizens this place was forbidden territory. Schools, kindergartens, shops, theaters, swimming halls, sports fields, power stations,… A place with everything you need. However, after the fall of the Berlin Wall the soviet troops had left the former military headquarter in 1994. What remained was a deserted garrison town and a petrified comrade Lenin. He isn’t the only one protecting the area by the way – so if you are planning to see Wünsdorf you should consider a guided tour or at least think about paying for an admission pass.
