Some may remember this amazing mansion from my post year or two or something like that ago. This was built at 1878 and for long time it was Finland's biggest farm. 138 years is pretty long time in human scale, and there for it's past have darker tones too - darkest thing did happen at 1972 when that time's owner did shoot 3 young boys that were camping at mansion's land.

Recent owner have try to get permission to demolish this and build new, modern mansion at it's place - there's a reason why it is like it is, floors ripped up etc. Still it is really amazing place and I wish that my photos can transfer at least some of it.

I've photograph this just once. After that it did feel like it have become some kind of UE-tourism location, and that kind of thing is really good thing to keep me off. So I kind of did forget whole place. Now it have been long time since I've seen any photos from there and when my friend (who have find information of it from internet) did ask would I like to get there, only possible answer were yes.

Anyway, he doesn't photograph so at that time I did take just few photos knowing that I must return and so I did just 6 days after. Again it was 1-0 situation with heart against mind.

And then, finally, to photos. As you can notice, weather did change between those 6 days...

Wow, what a great site!
Be nice to see the full length image of that statue and well as more color images even if drab.
Sad it's not going to be restored.
Too late...
3 kids? Damn that's a hard core serial killer there.

Oh My! How Beautiful. Ghostly Glory wins, hands down, Its Lovely! Outstanding location and photos. Really admire the processing you do on these shots as well. What a shame this place sits alone with all those pretty lighting fixtures and fireplaces.

WOW!!! One of your best sets yet! These shots are all both haunting and stunning at the same time. The statue and light fixture shots are some of my favorites. The processing you used here is spot on for the mood of the place.
It reminds me of the mansion from Resident Evil. Especially Ghostly Glory with the plastic hanging like that.

Most excellent work Wolfheart, you have outdone yourself once again!

Ai absolutely agree, and now I really regret that I didn't get back there at spring like I at first visit tought. Well, must keep this in my mind at next spring...

And what comes to colours, I will try to keep that in my mind too at next trip, but we'll see if I can stay out of "old ways". That place just... I don't know, it was same at first visit, same as these too: photos with colors just feel... so wrong. But I'll keep your wish in my mind.

Yeah, it have been told that he were really quick-tempered person... but that mansion still have 4 400 hectare land around it so... I don't know, maybe when you have lot even little means much?

Thank you very much. And I feel that this place really demands that "older photo style"... so I'm happy if you feel same. In my opinion it transfers more that place mood.

Yeah, I absolutely agree. It really is sad that all those beautiful things are dying there... as far as I know, today's owners are really rich people, so... I don't know, it still feels so wrong to let that kind of things just... die. I understand that at some point building is too far and too deep to fix, but why let all those lightning fixtures there? And whole situation is so odd. Modern mansion... against all that history? Bit dark yes (there are more than that massacre of 3), but I suppose that you can take almost any block of flats, if it is even 50 years old people have died there and maybe even killed there. Dying is part of life, so..?

And same time I understand too, comparing to that toilet... and that kind of building here, you just can't change it like you want, you have to protect history (which is good I think). But future will show what finally happens. Let's hope best...

Now I'm really speechless, so thank you very, very much! This last from my second pint goes to you... This also feels good because especially this second "alone" trip did lift me really high... and I'm sooo glad if I can save some of that mood and atmosphere to photos (and that way all around world) too. By the way, you are not only who have tought Resident Evil when looking those photos.

And guess what: life is amazing: my next set (from this day) offer something totally, completely different. But let's get back to that at next weekend. xD

Always seems it's that way when shooting, many times latter you realize this really looks great or if only I had (fill in the blank).

It's artistic preference.
For documenting color stood always be used.
Since I always shot digital, all RAWs were in color. If WB was totally skewed I would sometimes go to b/w or occasionally for artistic reasons.
Lol, I dream in Technicolor.

Yeah, it have been told that he were really quick-tempered person... but that mansion still have 4 400 hectare land around it so... I don't know, maybe when you have lot even little means much?

There's always two sides to a story. Be an interesting read if you could dig it up. The fate of the owners always fascinates me.

Life is full of darkness. Why hide the truth?
Than again maybe the current owner can't shake the resident evil feeling of the place. Razing the building may not help.
A few places are just evil.
Really is sad though to see it rot...

I go back and shot the hell out of that one
At a site like that there's a lot you miss the first go around.

Just cool, and one of a kind... Thanks for posting this

The arm-less bust is an absolutely horrific image, especially shot in the winter like that covered in snow. Awesome!

I agree with TheSwanStation on the processing supporting the mood perfectly; especially the framing.

Thank you. You can believe that I'm already waiting for next spring, when I hopefully will be able to catch this with fresh green around it. Will be long winter...
