School's Out Forever

Went on an epic journey across the eastern part of Colorado the other day in search of abandoned school houses. I must say, the trip was a major success. This old school house was by far my favorite. I could find no information about it online and my friend who I was with knew no more than I about it. No it sits abandoned and falling apart. No more students wandering it's long hall between classes. No more homework being turned in at the start of the day. Only golden silence, which is what any teacher desires in their classroom.

One of the cooler schools I've seen and virtually untouched (by man). Great find. Hope you can find some more info about it and its history.

Amazing find! Yeah if a class room was so quite to where you can hear the wind, any teacher would be happy. Even I would be happy!
It always pains me to leave books at an abandoned site. But, I already have a lot of books from habitat for humanity.

I like shot #2, as it really seems to stress the desolation of this location.

It is one of my favorite school's I have explored so far. I find that rural locations seem to be much more untouched by man than urban spots. Guess taggers and the defilers are too lazy to drive all day to find places. Thank goodness.
I have emailed the Denver Public Library and am looking around for any info I can get on it. I have a friend who knows someone who might have gone to that school, so I'll share any cool info I find!

Thanks! And very true!
I love finding books at locations. It really helps to tell the story of the place(no pun intended XD) I never take anything from locations though, only photos and memories(and the occasional mud, spider web, nail in the boot, splinter, etc).

Thanks! And yes it does, I didn't look at it that way until I saw your comment. It really is a desolate location. Many of these old prairie school houses are. Standing alone in the middle of nowhere.

# 2 was my first choice too! ...but like the table with the dishes still in place even though the table is on its last leg. Like the cool tones of peach and green in this school also.

#2 seems to be quite the popular photo. My buddy and I were both very amused at the table. Roof caves in and most of the plates stayed put! No idea how. And peach and green(along with yellow) seem to be a very common set of colors out east I have noticed.
