This iron foundry, with several locations around the Midwest, has recently shut down operations in several cities. The company was founded in about 1920. This particular location seems to be one of the older ones and just so happens to be a short drive from us. After a few months of scouting, we decided to give it a go. While it's still undergoing active decommissioning/salvage work and has at least one worker on site at all times, they didn't seem to be too keen or concerned about the idea of general lurkers such as ourselves. Although, it just closed in December, parts of it look as if it's been sitting for decades. It was well worth the trip.
I usually just stick to my local regional forum but felt like branching out for this one. I'm no photographer by any means and I use a little pink Kodak Easy Share point and shoot that was donated to me. It has very limited access to some settings, and lately, I've been figuring out how to get somewhat better pictures out of it. Since this is one of my better local finds and I've never posted over here in this section, I figured Id give it a go. These pictures were taken over the course of two visits.
