Passed through New Orleans for a day on my grand UrbEx tour, saw a certain infamous theme park as well as a bunch of other miscellaneous things. Security on that park sure is tight, but not impossible to get around. Thanks to Loony Toons and Metal Gear Solid for preparing me for sneaking around, was equal parts comical and tense. Anyhow, shots:

And now onto the regular stuff, things I found just wandering/cruising through the areas outside the city proper. Still loads leftover from floods that haven't been touched, but was pleasantly surprised to see some property getting rehabbed to be livable once more.

If it wasn't for my distaste towards humidity, heat, and the climate of the south in general, I'd probably throw money at this thing until I could live in it. Alas, my winter blood says it's not meant to be. Also, my bank account.

I will admit I'm quite jealous of your first destination... It's on my bucketlist, but I've heard about tight security for a while from a few different people, and my limited experience in this type of situation has led me to the conclusion that I'm less of an infiltrator and more of a photographer when it comes to my primary motivations. I want the photos, and I get too stressed out to concentrate on the photography when I'm having to hit the deck with each security round, lol. I will access that place eventually though, that is one of my life goals!
Anyways, it looks like you had a fruitful trip and got some awesome shots!
How long did you stay in the park? And in the area in general? It's a pretty good drive for me, so when I do go, I'll probably stick around for at least a couple days.

Yeah, security was a pain. Getting into the park was no issue, but the foot/car patrols once daylight hit (went in at dawn) were pretty annoying sometimes. Easy enough to get around them but with only two (one car, one foot, both just doing a basic circuit) I feel I had an easy day compared to other folks' accounts. Funny enough though, had the tripod+GoPro set up in pretty obvious areas for timelapses, but any time they walked by they never seemed to notice.

The park I only spent maybe an hour and a half in... Maybe two? Was only in the state for a day before heading on through so figured it was then or never!

I heard parking in that neighborhood is really sketchy too. A friend of mine said he was pretty stressed out about his car still being where he left it when he was done (thankfully, it was).

WOW! Cant believe how much things have changed since i was there in 13. So much overgrowth now. Enjoyed your photos! Loved the YOU GO GIRL Pic Too Oh, i forgot to mention, i was caught twice by security. The second time they thought they had to scare me by showing me an Alligator in the pond and making me sign a paper that i was warned. Funny, i can't remember whose name i put on it LOL and the alligator didn't scare me. Ive seen bigger.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

I took a lyft when i was there. The security is extremely tight and they WILL drive through the park, I had to leave early sadly because of this.

Wife and I were there back in March. The neighborhood didn't seem too sketch while we were there. It was about 12PM and really windy too, made the park look and sound like something straight out of a horror movie. Dope place though.

Yeh, I've heard they patrol pretty hard there, but didn't realize they had foot patrol also.

Ditto. At least not security that walked inside of the perimeter.

I have considered doing this a couple times, I think it's a smart idea. Almost any time I've run into problems (but not all times!), it has been directly related to my vehicle.

The only issue is sitting on a curbside in east new orleans with dildo packages all over the ground.

The Theme park was honestly one of my favorite trips. I've been meaning to post some pictures of it, since it was crazy fun. When we went the was a Helicopter circling the park. I don't know if it was security or not but it was enough to freak us out, so we left before we planned to. We didn't encounter anyone in the actual park though.
