Always sad to see such wonderful aircraft sitting around, rotting away. Aviation has become way, WAY too expensive for people to enjoy anymore. With all the regulations people have to follow, and at $200 an hour at most training schools, who on earth can afford it? Given how much pilots get paid, and how many years they train for, the aviation industry is killing itself and only the most wealthy and painfully persistent pilots will reap the benefits of the massive gap that's forming.

Lovely pictures though! I'd love to see that place in person.

(Just a side note, the low wing aircraft in #3 is not a Cessna. Don't know that it is exactly, maybe an Ercoupe, Globe Swift, Meyers MAC-145, or some home built, but it's not a Cessna :p )

Nice mate , probably the airframes time is up and would cost too much to fix. Jumped out of Cessna C185 and C206 in the past as well as caravans.

Given what even piss-beat old cessnas sell for ($200k+ easy), I have to think these would be worth refurbishing or salvaging somehow? Maybe not... damn shame in any case.

A brand new Cessna is in the 200k range, but you can easily buy a used air-worthy Cessna for around 20-40k with a bit of time still on the engine. These on the other hand would take a ton of work to get back to airworthy condition. The engines are likely seized or suffer from corrosion for sitting so long, rubber gaskets would all be cracked from the sun and need to be replaced, very possible that the instruments would also need to be serviced or re-calibrated. I would hate to see what the fuel lines and tank bottoms look like in those planes. In all likelihood, if they've sat out for as long as it looks like they have, they are barely worth the metal they're made of, outside of sentimental restoration value.

That's crazy, I took a C-152 out Tuesday night for $82.00 including fuel. A C-172 goes for $108.00 an hour wet. Our almost brand new C-172 goes for $128.00 an hour.

It was in September, we saw their silhouettes fade away, outlined on the horizon against the rays of the setting sun.

*$200 an hour is the dual rate in most Canadian schools.

Oh that's horrible. Especially from what it used to cost to fly a plane 10-15 years ago.
