The story goes that you have about 15 minutes before being kicked out of here by security. We got info from someone who recently had been there for hours without a problem, so we reckoned that this was our chance. We passed the 15 minutes mark and started feeling at ease but after about 30 minutes a guard popped up out of nowhere, saying the legendary words: "I won!". Turned out to be a nice guy and after taking our data we were free to go, but I wish I had seen more of this huge plant.

Incredible as usual. Glad you didn't get charged when you got busted.

Killer images.

To beat security you need to do what we did at Beth Steel; observe and know their tactics.
I'd take a pair of tactical binoculars with me to give me an edge at Beth.
Lol, the guards many time would sit in their truck inside a garage door that face the blast furnaces from a block away. Even with the naked eye they could easily see movement on the superstructure. Sometimes they would sit in the furnace buildings with their truck parked below but that was rare.

Your guard has favorite vantage points that offer him a large field of view and/or critical areas you need to cross to access place in the plant that people like to go there.
You need to find his hiding spot (s) and avoid his "killing zones". If he's not in his normal hiding spots, he's either on break or roaming; look out.

If you smoke, don't while there. You can smell it a klick away. Dead giveaway.
A few cams or motion sensors are another possibility. Look for them. Active power is always a bad sign...
Try to do your moves in low areas and stay concealed as much as possibly.

Luckily for you it's just a game to him and he's not jacking you up with charges

Just when I thought I was out... they pulled me back in.

Nice one like my power stations . Sometimes Guards are OK that way if you bump into them or the ones i have anyway.

Thanks guys! Blackhawk, it were motion sensors, the type I've seen before in that area. They are wireless and when you trip them a little red LED lights up. I had noticed them but the LEDs didn't light up when I walked past them so I thought that they were old and out of use. I even waved my hand in front of one to make sure. Now comes the fun part, we asked the guard about it and he told us that they took out all the LEDs to make it impossible to tell that you are tripping them. Clever guys...

The exact model:

It's hard to not trip them when they reach 12 meters!

That sucks. I hate passive multi-zone IR detectors.
Knowing the model might open new possible ways to defeat them including jamming or false alarms using their wireless link. I always tape over the leds once I had set up a unit so they weren't visible.
At least now you can start a map of them for future use. Of coarse they might move them around too.

On the optical side they are more sensitive to changes in IR temp changes the closer you get. If you move slow enough at 30 feet you won't trip them. At 5 feet they are tripped if you move almost at all. They divide the area into zones and look for a predefined rate of temp change between zones. They can't "see" through glass. Playing with one would teach you what the can and can't do.

This place is spectacular! You got some damn good shots for only being there a short time. 30 minutes isn't even close to enough time, hell I don't think a day would be enough. At least the guard was cool.

Some good info on guards and motion detectors Blackhawk. Very interesting read.

these are common as hell in the Uk and come in a variety of Modes some battery, some mains, some heat, some heat and movement, some even have a pinhole camera in them that sends a 20 second feed back to a central station . Along with infra red cams/thermal and my favorites are the external Dalek systems, that shout at you in a Irish accent to stay where you are that that security/ Police are on the way . They all have week points. One of the worst in the UK is Red-care Alarms only dealt with it once . Its direct to the local police station who then dispatch all nearest units to respond. We set one off three times one night to see what the times where like. 8 minutes first 6 minutes second, third time they came in quietly no sirens or flashing lights and some on foot we watched from a roof top was his shoulder and cap badges catching the light that gave him away before he put his torch on. Europe is a long ways behind in the security stakes but perhaps with the rise in metal prices they have had to take measures.

Not just binoculars. TACTICAL binoculars. Holy fuck. Those security guards are lucky they're still alive.

Oh hell, that sucks! 6 minutes is fast. The stateside ones tend to be silent. I bugged out of the old National Rolling Mills complex after I tripped one years ago. Probably wasn't connected but who wants to find out the hard way?
The worst ones give no indication at all...

The tactical variety are compact with some light gathering ability lost as a trade off. They have a wider area of view trading that off for less magnification, typically 6X.
They are intended to scan and spot movement over large areas quickly.
Good ones don't fog and can be used in any weather conditions.

They saved me more than once at Beth... they paid for themselves a couple times over.
So yeah, I be a badazz motherfucker
