Wasps are easy... Africanized bees are not.
You can outrun any bee swarm; max flying speed is 15 mph.

From now on, let's just assume that when I say, "wasp," I mean;
"wasp, hornet, bumble bee (those are the ones that almost killed me when I was younger), africanized honey bee, european honey bee, yellow jacket (technically a wasp, as is the hornet), black bee, yellow bee, WTF was that bee, hybrid bee, and zombie bee."

Wasp is a lot easier to type.

Wait... Maybe I'm exceptionally slow, isn't 15 mph on the high side? I know it's doable, but I'd struggle to attain that speed (this might have been an easy feat when I ran cross country in Jr High, but that was a loong time ago)!

Incidentally, do you know how far they will follow? I know the africanized bees will go much farther than the typical bee. They are just evil. Even their honey isn't as tasty from what I understand. And they will kill any queen bee that is not africanized, even though their European cousins won't reciprocate this behavior - a big reason why it's hard to keep the populations balanced now.

FYI to those that don't know:
1. Wasps die off every year with the exception of the queen, bees don't - they hibernate.
2. Wasps can sting you repeatedly (yes, I learned this one the hard way too!), bees will die after they sting you one time. Their stinger is released into the victim and the bee's abdomen basically will explode afterwards. The wasp's stinger does not part from the body, allowing it to sting you as many times as it is able.
3. Yellow Jackets and hornets are also in the wasp family. As are mud daubers, but they are least likely to sting you because they are solitary and don't protect their queen/hive.

And that, my friends, is all you will ever (hopefully) need or want to know about bees and wasps!

EDIT: Wow. I just realized how off-topic I've veered. Sorry guys.

15 mph is the max speed of any of the species.
Bad news, honey bees have exceptional vision.
Try to break line of sight asap.
Get inside if possible.
Water will not stop them.
Keep an eye out for more than one bee. They attack fast and in numbers once one releases the attack pheromone. Run at the first sign they are massing by then dozens can be airborne. And they just keep coming...
The scout bees that go out first to find flowers, shelter are the most aggressive and risk taking in nature.
Anything that stings, smash if possible so it can't sting you again. Hornets are hard to kill; crush them with your fingers. I make it a point to try and kill anything that stings me preferably before it stings me

Do not wear perfume or anything with a fragrance.

All that said I've "played" with them more then once, fuck them... I'll kill them and their little queen too

Lol, fire ants are in the wasp family.... urge to kill rising.

Now back to Death in the Silo, a Quinn Martin Production
