My first exploring, may seems boring to everyone, but at least I have to start somewhere.
My left leg sprained after climbing up the track...so I snap a few picture and left. Will be back in winter when there are less tree and leaf on the way.

Left leg sprain? WTF? Ankle?
Get some high top laced up boots before you really get hurt...

Any splore is a splore. When there are railroad tracks then it is a cool splore.

I should have done that, it was an ankle sprain caused by muscle cramp.

nice, veggy filled shots. Thanks for sharing, and I agree...at least get some high topped sneakers if not boots. ANY ankle support is better than nothing.

Would look cool with a light dusting of snow... but then you'd probably really hurt yourself. Be Safe meow.

Thank you, I should go to buy one before re-visit again. Especially I am planning on winter and go farther.

Nice idea, wish I can get the right time before the snow get too high and cover everything.

Snow covered tracks.
Yes, well... walking tracks can be hazardous even inactive ones. I have a dent in my side from a fall on the rails; torn cartilage hurts worse than a cracked rib
If you fall on steel expect to break bones or fracture your skull. -Steel is unforgiving-

Not only can you trip on the rail, a tie, or other debris, the gravel washes out from under ties sometimes and can make a deep hole. Perfect to break a leg or ankle.
Always wear high top laced boots, and take your time.
Watch where you are stepping.
Small steps are ok, it's all the same fucking day.
Running isn't a good idea.
I've been walking tracks for over half a century, it's fun and rewarding.
Always remember there's pain that comes in colors and worse for those who get careless on them...

Of course I will go there again to scout before a snow walk. At least I have a chance to know what to expect under the snow. I am starting to think how lucky I was, got away with only a sprain, could be worse.
I will definitely take a helmet with me next time, since steel is everywhere on the track.
Thank you for sharing your experience, may have saved my life.

A helmet is overkill, but walking snow cover tracks is just asking for it.
It seems when you fall on tracks one of the rails seem to have a nasty tendency to break your fall.
