Chicago Churches Mega Thread < on 9/12/2016 6:51 PM > | Reply with Quote
Hey all - I'm back. Sorry to have fallen off the face of the forum...In the interim I have not stopped exploring and shooting. I wanted to put this thread together to showcase what I've been up to lately and to do my part to squash the usual complainypants whining I hear from people that claim there's nothing good to explore in their area. Not true! There are great places all over, some just require a little more effort than your typical Boniface or Damen Silos.
I'm going to try to be as concise as possible with just one or two shots per site. If anyone wants to see more of a particular location, I have it on my flickr. Dive in or shoot me a DM.

Thanks you guys.
Relik - I've got my eye on a half dozen or so new ones, too. Some I just need to get out to and others I'm watching for them to open up. Between Chicago and Gary, I say Chicago every time.
SaladKing - Aint that always the way. I don't mind a little vandalism because I feel like it can make for a stark setting. That's a pretty self serving opinion though and I'm really pro-preservation. Taggers, on the other hand, really get to me. Two thumbs way down

Sad to see the ornate woodwork in #7 has been removed, I can still remember stumbling across that place accidentally last year and being stunned when we walked in not knowing what to expect.

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys.
Mookster - nicely done!! I always love seeing the before / after shots of the places I explore. I was recently looking through a big set of Edgewater hospital from '08 and the contrast was stark to say the least. Not just the tagging, which is obviously a shame, but the level of decay has grown exponentially.
