Waiting for the abandonment...

I've had my eyes on a place for quite some time now and I feel it in my bones that as soon as the "resident" leaves, the place will be fair game.

How many of you have waited for a place to enter the world of abandonments?
Was the place as wonderful as you thought it would be?
Was the experience better immediately after being abandoned or after more time has passed?
If you understand that these questions are asked loosely, share your stories and pictures. (:

There's this house on the other side of my town that has been there for years. It was a historical mansion that was just terribly miskept. The old woman that lived there went into a retirement home, so I waited a couple of days. Then the night that I was going to go in they put up the chain-link and were getting ready to tear it down. It was an amazing walk through. Sadly, no pictures since I didn't want to risk the flash at night in the middle of a populated neighborhood.

Never waste a day.

There is an old English type club down the road from me that has been going through various stages of use and abandonment. I have been wanting to go in but it never seems to clear out quite enough.

Me and my friend waited over three and a half years for the huge military base I posted not so long ago to become truly abandoned, so worth it.

This sounds pretty cool and is somewhat similar to mine, too bad you weren't able to get some photos.

The other stories here are pretty cool as well.

I tried looking for the military base but I'm not sure if I found the post...
