I know it has been a while since I have last posted(I have been actively lurking on the Four Corners thread though!), but that doesn't mean I haven't been out and about! Took a week long trip through Utah, Nevada and California in search of abandoned places and hauntings(and a couple nights in Vegas to top it off!). Must say, the trip was well worth it and much needed. Here is one location my crew and I hit up on said trip:

Located in, this Cold War era abandoned military base was a subinstallation of the White Sands Missile Range in NM. This complex was used by the USAF and US Army for rocket testing, firing both the Pershing and Athena missiles fitted with subscale warheads for impact at the New Mexico range.

During it's course of operation from 1964 to 1975, there were 244 missile launches, including 141 launches of the Athena missiles.

The site was built in 1963, and the first Athena launch took place on February 10, 1964. The last Athena was launched in 1971, and in 1975, a Pershing missile was the last that would be launched from this facility. The site became inactive in 1979, and was deactivated in 1983.

Wie barely scratched the surface of all that this place holds in our short time there exploring. An incredible place, and I can't wait to return.

That was all that remains of the barracks and mess hall that took care of the soldiers stationed here. So we hopped back in the car and drove a little further down the road to a small cluster of buildings.

Yes, my camera was on 10 second self timer for this photo. If ladder climbing was an Olympic sport I'm sure I would have taken home the gold. Amazing how quick you can get to and then climb a ladder and then pose for a photo all in 10 seconds.

This place was a collection of "Exit" and "Not An Exit" signage.

These are awesome! It's a cool location, great stuff, great subjects, cool pictures.

BUT

In case you missed it,

BLATANTLY NAMING THINGS IS SERIOUSLY FROWNED UPON, even if they're well known and documented elsewhere. There was a place similar to this I used to visit often. It soon became plastered all over the place after it was posted to a particular forum, and now it is trashed and disgusting to visit. It can happen anywhere, so please in the future watch out for that

When there is tranquility, you are in the right place. When there are no footprints, you are on the right path. When there are no tire tracks, you are on the right road.

My apologies man! I did not think that through as I know this is a pretty well known and documented spot. I went back through and removed the names. So I thank you for pointing that out and future posts will be left nameless.

Glad you liked the photos though!
