Revisiting Chicago/Gary in a few days (and Detroit in a month) and realized I never posted anything from when I actually lived in the Chicago itself-- gonna fix that. From what I've seen from posts here and friends, a fair bit's changed...so hey, if anyone wants to join up, hit me up.

I'll admit, it totally was. Nowadays my paranoid cautious self is kicking old me for being that careless. Especially on that bridge of all places.

Life's not complete without an unannounced FBI interview
RR bridges aren't near as high risk as highway bridges. You do have the RR police and river or port authority to worry about though on active ones.

There are countless inactive RR bridges though that can be climbed and shot relatively safely... but not in W TX

Update with new stuff. Didn't get to see as much of Gary as I'd have liked (woke up way too late) but still got some decent stuff. Can't wait to get back to my desk so my phone isn't all I have to process with.

Bonus: when you've got a good angle for a timelapse, but it's an angle that requires doing something stupid. Worked though.

Really cool shot of the Drumpf tower...! The quality of light is amazing.

I don't know much about rooftopping but I can show you some of the non touristy abandoned buildings next time you're in town - hit me up!

Will do...once I get a new hard drive and can work on it! Downside about timelapses is that they take up loads of space, and having about 200GB of stuff to offload from a month of straight traveling/shooting doesn't help much.

Thanks man, that'd be rad, I'll let you know when I'm back in town! Which'll probably be in about...a year.

Got some Detroit stuff too. Instead of starting up a whole new thread, figured I may as well just throw it in here since I only really hit two spots and at least one of 'em is one everyone and their mum's been to.

Yeah, place has seen a lot of vandalism since pictures of it first caught my eye back in... '09?' 10? Really gone downhill. Always see pictures of abandoned places in Germany, France, Berlin, etc. and they never have vandalism this bad! Damn shame.

Right? I wonder what the deal is. I bet that the really good European spots are so much further out of the way from the urban areas that they keep relatively clean. As such they are probably a closer guarded secret than your typical St. Rita or City Methodist and get most of their traffic from actual urbexers vs bored teenagers. At least in the case of the grand old villas and monasteries I could see that being the case. Detroit, Chicago, etc all have AMAZING sites that are free of graff - you just need to do a lot more dirty work to find and enter.

A friend of mine recently visited Berlin and the locals took him to an abandoned radar station. I think it was just a little bit outside the city proper and it was completely covered in tags, so the disregard for history seems to be a pervasive attitude all around the world.
