Becoming Anonymous

I started posting here, not knowing how careful I needed to be, in order to maintain a secret identity. Does anyone have any advice on how to make myself more anonymous? I'm still understanding how to use this site and so far it seems I've done everything wrong.

Other than changing your username to not be your real name and hiding the city where you live, you could try changing your registration e-mail to a throwaway address. Though that would probably only compromise your anonymity with UER mods.

Also, what are you worried about exactly?

Just limit your photography to abandoned lime kilns, tool sheds, fish hatcheries, and gas stations. That should keep you off the feds 10 most wanted list.

I don't see the point as you are never truly invisible or totally anonymous anyway.
Who you're concerned with?

If you are worried it may effect entrance into the military, FBI, or getting a security clearance, best check what you do. With a high level background check they can pull up all kinds information you thought was invisible... and it's a small, small world.

Conduct yourself as you do in real life on the web and there be minimum issues.

my 2 cents: we absolutely 100% have a handful of scum bag members on UER who can/have/will post photos of you in threads and on other private boards if they find out who you are. I know this because I was at one time targeted and there is nothing the moderation team/Av-X can do about it.

if you want to be totally anonymous, never go to a UER event and never offer help to people who aren't already your friends here on this forum.

on the other hand, if you are on facebook/linkedin/flickr, etc. most of your info is all over google already

edit: and also, ask the moderation team to remove your last username entirely, they should know this already but we can still see your first and last name that was your old username defeating the entire purpose of a username change.

This. The most you can do to protect yourself is to not name locations when posting on sites, don't do anything high key, like climb a 70 story active construction project and post pictures on top of it, common sense is your savior

What goes around, comes around.
Last ones I saw do that are fat and dead flounder ugly now.
Joke em if they're too ugly to fuck

To remain invisible you need to do the impractical; avoid the internet altogether. Most members I can find who they are if I really wanted to without any spook voodoo tools. Most members eventually give more than enough clues in their posts.
Yes, well...

Sounds like somebody has been butt hurt by their "UER friends".

Ive addressed her concerns in another thread. The aka name goes away in 30days maybe she can avoid doing the Brinks job or infiltrating active SAC bases a while longer.

But if you post links to your photo blog account as shes done, one that has her real name in the URL, and, use her real name in her primary email address used to register on this site, theres really not much the mods can do for her.

Privacy is an illusion, stay off the Internet if that is too distressful for you. Get rid of your mobile phone and don't use credit or debit cards to purchase anything either.

You need to look no further than Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to see why idiots get caught after being snitched out. Snitching on self through their stupid brag posts shared with everyone.

I'm not trying to shame this guy here. Just an example of kind of thoughts I wouldn't share with the whole world. http://www.uer.ca/...=1&threadid=123273

Oh no! I've only been on here for about a week. It's just on the few posts i've made many reply with criticism on how "exposed my identity is." I appreciated all the help, I just kinda freaked out a bit. I'm not too worried anymore, everyone here is really helpful and I'm not wanted by the authorities or anything.

People probably just meant your username. You aren't exactly on the FBI's top 10 wanted list.

I didn't mean to scare you with my comment I made on your post a while ago. I just wanted to give you a heads up! A long time ago I was part of a forum with my real name as the username and I really regretted it.

Not sure how you determined it was her real name. If her images are watermarked with it, what's the point of subterfuge with the user name?
Many here have a link to their homepage as well.
