HAHAHA. Let's see. I've had crazy homeless guy tell me he's the mayors brother and is going to have me arrested. I had a security guard stand in her truck and watch me with binoculars for 45 min. (had many ways to exit and she seemed to think this would get us to leave.) I've had property owners show up and threaten to shoot me. Oddly enough after I engage them a bit we become friendly enough to let me stay until I'm done. I've had the cops show up a few times, almost always when I'm already either out of or haven't yet entered a place. "Why no officer I'm just taking exterior shots." Let me look at your camera. "Not without a warrant sir". What do you have to hide? "Ok can I come over to your house and look at all of your pictures? No? What do you have to hide office?" I've had construction workers tell me to get out. They don't seem to care much. I've had many people who work in large buildings and hotels approach with "Can I help you Sir". That is my own fault as I have no sense of direction and will go through the same area over and over.

It's usually the opposite for me:

Security guard: you stay right there until the cops get here
Me: naw, bye bye

Met a Rottweiler in an abandoned high rise in one of Newark's most violent neighborhoods a few years back. Luckily he was lazier than the person tasked with sealing the place or else we would have been fucked. Also got chased away from an abandoned school, also in Newark, by some random dude who popped out a window and stared at me from the roof until we left.

Another time when I was alone in a large abandoned hospital in a different city near my apartment, I heard loud banging coming my direction. Due to the terrifying stories I had heard of the owners I didn't think twice about splitting. Haven't been back since.

Oh definitely.

Abandoned school - went at night and with only one other person - turns out 3-4 blackout drunkies that were furious we were there and chased us down a floor and out a window (Wasn't taking any chances on standing ground in a massive falling down school with 2 unarmed women vs. 4 drunk dudes).

Abandoned prison - City worker saw us and seemed cool about everything until we realized he secretly called the police department and pulled the "yall stay right here until I get the person you need to speak to (meaning cops)" and he turned to smoke a cigarette and we dipped.

Had a pitbill/boxer at a house once who seemed like he was going to rip us apart but turns out a turkey sandwich you forgot was in your backpack solves 98% of your problems.

Other than that its mostly secret alarm sensors that we notice later and run like hell.

He was actually pretty cool and if you knew how obnoxious I can be you'd believe it. I was already in the car with my kids when he stopped me. It was at American Flats which is in the same county as Virginia City,Nevada. (Google both, I have a pic set of American Flats.) Before they bulldozed those structures they allowed you to be there and see them but you were not allowed inside. Mostly because people would fall off the second story while drinking. For some reason the cops around here will see daytime exploring as just that but if you go at night you must be a burglar.

Had a very bad encounter with an angry farmer in Belgium who chased us out of the abandoned house next to his own house with a large pole, his wife slashed our car tyres and we were shot at, that wasn't fun.

Also after exploring an old drainage tunnel a few years back after we got out and drove off two members of the security team followed our car all the way back into the city, even with us taking the back roads as we knew we were being followed. It was a drain that led into a very much active car factory we were exploring though so that might have explained that.

As soon as I pulled into this particular location, I got a bad vibe and backed up. Before I could fully turn my car around, a guy runs OUT of an underground bunker, headed for his vehicle. Oh shit, I'm thinking, wtf have I done (though technically, I hadn't trespassed or done anything. I just pulled into a driveway and backed right out). The mistake I made was before I backed out I took s photo of the place, assuming it was abandoned, but either way, it was cool, and I just wanted the photo from the street. This nut job HAD to be watching me on some kind of CCTV OR SOMETHING. Anyways, I'm getting worried, so my casual turn-around becomes a squealing, curb kissing slide back onto the street and I gunned it. I underestimated this guys resolve. I was booking it around 80 or 90 down a farm road thinking Mr. Bat Shit Crazy would tire of this and just go home. Wrong. Seemingly out of nowhere the guy's riding my ass, trying to maneuver around my car. Now I'm panicking. Is he going to shoot me is he going to ram me off the road into this extremely deep ditch or something worse? Keep in mind, this is a two lane road with steep curves and winding hills and valleys, not the best line of sight for on coming traffic. This guy didn't give a shit about any of that and pulls beside me. we've now topped 100 mph. I'm pretty panicked at this point, and pretty convinced this guy wants me dead. I couldn't shake him as he started kissing the side of my car with his. Topped out around 130 or so with this idiot about to kill the next unsuspecting motorist coming from the other direction, I did the only others thing I could think of. I rolled down my window, yelling, "what the hell are you doing?!" I honestly don't remember what he said but I remember saying something about, "I'm a photographer! I take photos, I left as soon as I could!" Something silly like that. We're still neck and neck and I'm just praying no oncoming traffic makes an appearance, while simultaneously praying he's not going to pull out his semi automatic and aim right for my temporal lobe. It was pretty traumatic, so maybe that why I honestly don't remember why he ended the chase. I don't remember much of anything after that, except he yelled something back. Right after that fiasco, several (like dozens) of tornados came a couple hours later. I remember that clearly! Those tornadoes made for some of the best photographs I've ever taken in my life. As far as Nut Job, I've driven by his place a couple times, and my stomach still knots up, even several years after that incident.

I wandered till the stars went dim.

There's something really scary about swarms; they're a threat you can only flee from, because it's only possible to kill members, rather than the thing as a whole.

Unless you have a flamethrower.

Id love to have a small personal size flamethrower anyway maybe this is my excuse!

I seem to have a knack for finding bee colonies killer and otherwise.

I remember reading your full story on this a long time ago. Fascinating stuff haha. Whenever I tell someone who's never heard of UE or UER what it's all about, I use this story as an example. I must've retold your story 6 or 7 times by now. So thanks for the great material

As for getting chased out, I've never been chased from an abandonment, but I have been chased and yelled at for being on top of active buildings.

Angry store owner on the ground: "How'd you get up there?!"
Friend standing at edge of roof: "Magic, bitch!"
Then a dozen kids leap from the rooftops and dash away into the night.

I was in a local-ish favourite a month or so ago... parked in the lot beside the building where lots of people do to go fishing and walk their dogs, made my way in with the usual climb a retaining wall, climb a fence, and wander in. Took photos for maybe 10 minutes, wandered through the courtyard and made eye contact with a guy in the main section of the building who was sweeping. He gave a pretty poor chase, but man, did I ever feel like a jackass getting into my car parked right in front of the place (which I did a photoshoot with in that spot before I entered the building).

Apparently everyone who has been getting caught in the place lately has been getting charged, so I guess I was lucky?

Got chased by two dobermans once at an abandoned concrete factory where me and my bro used to skateboard. Thankfully we heard them coming and managed to get back over the fence before they caught and ate us.

That would be scary as hell. I don't know if you're familiar with detroiturbex.com, but I read on there that the photographer came upon a dog fighting ring inside an abandoned school. Definitely not the kind of people or animals I'd want to encounter in a place I'm already not supposed to be in. I'm not sure what would be worse to get chased by; dogs or humans? Dogs won't press charges, but at least humans won't bite.

I mean, most of them won't, I think...

Try not to get spotted but guess that wasn't the case past week. while exploring a powerstation in London. we where inside with our guide for about 30 to 40 mins. Before we spotted a torchlight be g flashed about so hid thinking walk through 15 mins this light was allover the bottom floor.

so we packed our gear away incase and diced to walk away from the turbine lit up to the dark side of the hall. half way down we noticed lights now up in the top of the boiler house doing systematic search. Decided time to leave and proceeded to get to ground and bail out asap guess they must have caught some e prior and that they had training ed the car. era o. that spot . still got so.e pics loo

I had a Sheriff deputy ask me to get the f out of someones private road and when I turned around to leave he almost wanted to shoot me because he said I carry a gun. Not sure where I was supposed to carry but he is lucky that my drone cam was already off because he was the rudest idiot I had ever meet.
There were no private property signs posted so a street with a name in general is a public one.

What?
I had insane dreams that made more sense than that statement.
