Established in the 1800's. This abandoned factory tucked away in Brisbane Australia, was full of old machinery and 100+ year old documents. What an amazing explore... Enjoy the photos

The abandoned Foundry was littered with dust and metal shavings! This large conveyor, with an extraction system appears to have been unused for many years.

This amazing work shop and location, had machinery sitting in every corner! Even inside and outside the First Aid stations!

The massive abandoned "Metal Castings" factory was filled with old machinery! This gigantic yellow one would have to be one of the largest there.

It appears some vandals have made it inside the abandoned factory. However the smashed windows made for an awesome photograph!

Sitting in the eastern corner of this massive factory, sat these yellow machines and extraction systems.

We found a store room, filled with machine parts and spares! I grabbed a few close ups, This box contained parts of 'Demag, Gearbox Parts'.

These old racks, would have served as a storage compartment for spares and business documents, when the factory was still in use, now days the paperwork is long gone, blown all throughout the large factory floors!

This large blue hopper stands unused, untouched and tucked far away in the corner of this abandoned factory.

WOW!!! Excellent find and great shots here! I am amazed at how intact the place is. Do you know how long it has sat vacant?

Thanks for the compliments! , Dave's helmet still has me confused! I never noticed until i got the pictures up on the big screen!..

I believe the factory closed down during the first week of July 2012, which was first week in 140 years the Foundry had not been in operation! Now heritage listed, this old gem is symbolic of industry in Australia. There is so much to this location i wish i had photographed more of. I will someday revisit this one!

One of Australia's icons is the Southern Cross Windmill for the use of rural irrigation. This foundry is responsible for manufacturing them since 1876. The trade name Southern Cross Windmills was coined in 1903.

This foundry has been an immense staple of historic significance to the evolution of Australia's character.
