These grainy out-of-focus cellphone pictures are from January 2015 and depict the former POW camp/WWII embarkation point from 1942-1946, then operating as a school for the mentally disabled from 1952-2002. Some of the buildings had started to be demolished and nothing was in great shape, but I thought I'd share the pictures regardless. It was a complex composed of a bunch of L-shaped buildings of varying sizes, most connected by tunnels. It's next to a really big industrial park.

1. The approach to one of the buildings

2. A spooky woman tarp with some spooky holes

3. A great dilbert cartoon posted on a door

4. Some educational supplies

5. ", to comb"

6. Massive dreamcatcher (probably 2-3' in diameter)

7. Presumably some sort of electroconvulsive therapy setup

8. A chair in the backyard

9. how to write a resumé

10. Heavily overexposed roof picture

11. The hatch to get to the roof

12. A suspiciously new-looking lawnmower in the woods

13. Some targets by the lawnmower (I believe it was used for police training, as there were boxes of ammunition and spent shells all over the place)

14. Hearing protection with tasteful hole

15. Frozen tunnel entrance

16. Also a snowblower?

17. Enormous bathtub

18. Instructions on bathtub cleaning procedure

19. Horse

20.

21. Menorah in the hall

22. Legs in the hall

Good pictures. Yeah, the lawnmower and snow blower in the woods were strange. Is this place still standing?

I haven't been back in over a year, have been meaning to go check on it though. I certainly hope it's still standing, I didn't get through all 15 or so buildings before dark!

Probably not the best idea right now. Major destruction of demo equipment not five weeks ago. Most of the tunnels and buildings are gone now too. Probably still some good shit but no tunnels means wandering around outside where there's nowhere to hide. Patrolled 24/7 too.

I was just there last week. The administration building is still standing but currently being worked on with the plastic over windows and doors and it's emptied out. I didn't see any other buildings standing and even on the weekend it was an active construction site.

Stick a fork in it; it's done. Like most of the MA classics.

Ohh. I think I know this place. Sort of near Taunton State Hospital, right? It kept having arson fires. Lots of long tunnels. Sadly, no longer worth exploring.

Update-Admin is gone. Only vacant building left is Fenton, the one with the ramps.

Thats too bad about admin. No one ever really messed around with that building. I was in there once 4 or more years ago. It was neat. Also I only ever got this one exterior shot of it on shitty Kodak Gold film...liked how admin was the only building with architectural character.

Yea I was really hoping they would save Admin, it seemed out of the way enough to just leave alone. It was in pretty bad shape inside though.

Admin buildings are always the best buildings. I love the clock towers. I wish the security office wasn't so close to the one near me because I want to go inside so bad. You have to love that Queen Anne architecture.
