A Presbyterian HBCU, founded in the late 1800's in Tennessee. This school was recently abandoned due to extreme financial difficulties and environmental issues on the campus. While it is technically not completely abandoned yet, the campus has sat empty for over a year, is largely deemed unfit for human habitation, and has been serious impacted by the humid southern weather.

Lots of shots of this one - the rest are on my Flickr.

That actually wasn't a joke - I scared it off like two seconds after I took that shot and it trotted out of the building.

Given the amount of humidity and heat this place is being subjected to, that's actually pretty much what is happening to it!

Good work! I was just there a couple months ago. Cut my arm pretty badly on the third floor roof of the admin building. By chance if you went inside the admin building, was there still a radio playing NPR in the President's Office?

One of my favorite spots to explore. It looks like you got into a few more buildings than me. Love the science hall though!

Yeah - I cut my arm up pretty good getting into the science building. Broken glass is a mother-fucker!

I did go inside the admin building, but there wasn't a radio playing when I went inside (probably someone either turned it off, stole it, or it simply broke down). Power was still on throughout the building, and it looked like a homeless person or people was making camp in the basement of the building.

There was also a server in the IT area that was still powered on - probably crashed since the climate control isn't working, but it was still humming away.

Ha. I was just at an abandoned mall that still had power earlier this week and NPR was being played through the PA system.

I was thinking the same thing walking around here - definitely the style of the architecture.

Wow this place is amazing! I think this set might be my favorite from you yet. I did not realize how big the place was until the Athletic Field shot.
Also this looks like it's been abandoned WAY longer than a year. Goes to show what humid rainy conditions can do to a building and it's contents.

Most of it has. This place has been barely functioning for years, and most of the buildings have been sitting unused for a long time. sara'mer and I were there a few years ago (on graduation weekend, no less) and only two or three of the buildings were in use then. We were back about a year ago, and only one building was being used.
