Anyone ever notice that the compartments for holding lenses are perfectly sized for beer cans?

Canon Rebel T3, stock lens. Lens cleaner. Gloves. Toilet paper. String. Insect repellent. Powerful spotlight for light painting. And a tick key for any ticks I encounter. I go pretty light.

For most explores, I use a general purpose camera sling pack.

-Nikon D750 (slung to my body, not carried in the bag)
-Tokina 16-28mm F/2.8 lens
-Nikkor 50mm F/1.8G lens
-Yongnuo flash
-LED flashlight
-LED headlamp
-Leather rappelling/climbing gloves
-Tripod
-Machete if foliage requires it
-Bottled water

I also bring along my camera case when I head out (I leave them in the car), which includes (in addition to the above)

-Spare camera batteries
-Spare batteries for the flash
-Extra eyecups (the D750 loses them very easily)
-Filters for the 50mm lens

If I'm exploring anywhere via kayak, I bring a 20L ultra-dry stow bag instead of my camera bag - I use it to pack away:

-Nikon D750
-Tokina 16-28mm
-Flashlight
-Gloves
-Machete
-Bottled water

Pentax k-5
kit 18-55mm lens
50mm f/2.8 1:1 macro prime lens
cheap speedlight
tripod
lens wipes
backup sd card
polarizing filter
cheap flashlight
water
snacks
first aid kit if I'm feeling responsible

all in my camera backpack, with the tripod and water strapped outside (though the tripod usually ends up attached to the camera 90% of the time).

I have a Tamrac Velocity 7x and subscribe to the school of thought that you pick a bag, and then pack it until it's full. Better to have crap you don't need, than to need stuff you don't have I'm also diabetic so that means I get a few more fun things to pack.

  • Nikon D3200
  • Nikkor 18-55mm kit lens
  • Nikkor 55-200mm kit lens (in clip on side pouch if I feel I need it)
  • Tamron 10-24mm wideangle lens
  • Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 prime lens
  • Regular and wideangle lens hoods
  • Leatherman Skeletool (more often that not, clipped to my pocket)
  • LED flashlight (with red, blue and green options)
  • LED Light https://www.amazon..._s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  • Flash mount stand thingie
  • Tripod clipped onto bag with carabiner
  • Glowsticks
  • Purell clipped to bag
  • 2x lens cloths
  • 2x extra SD cards
  • 2x extra batteries (never needed more than one, but bought 2 cheap on Amazon)
  • Shaded Eye Piece https://www.amazon..._s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  • Bandaids
  • Snack
  • Water or Gatorade
  • Blood Sugar Tester
  • Insulin
  • Glucose Tablets
  • "Emergency Sugar" (aka candy)

If I'm going somewhere dark, I have a head lamp I might bring. My LED flashlight also has a clip on it that works perfectly on a hat so might just wear a hat.

Usually a d5200, tripod, 18-55 lens, telephoto lens, lens filter to keep from scratching, lens wipes, Maglite, water, maybe candybars, remote shutter release, and a phone.

Just like the title says, whats in your bag? I know some of us may be curious what others bring along with them while exploring, and that topics like what camera, what lens to use, and other things have been talked about, but not the topic as a whole (or so I haven't found yet).

My bag: D3100, Tamron 10-24mm f/3.5, Nikon 35mm f/1.8G, respirator, GoPro w/backpack mount, and a nitecore p12 flashlight (which is AWESOME!). Other than that, I just bring along some gloves, lens wipes and remote shutter release.

What backpack is that? I've been looking for one.

If we're talkin just in the camera bag;

D3100 w/ the 18-55mm kit lens - for a casual explorer this works perfectly for what i need. Can get great shots out of it.

Tamron 28-75mm lens
Tamron 18-200mm lens
Cleaning tings - blower brush, lens tissues, dust cloth

Then a bunch of other stuff I rarely use lol couple of filters, a lens hood, extra sdcard, battery, charger.

That's just in my camera bag tho, normally I'll leave that in the car or even at home. I take another small backpack w/ some supplies if I'm really makin a mission out of an explore.

I'm not into photography, really. But pics of my travels are nice to have.

On my waist/hip:

  • Sony Cybershot DSC-RX100M4 in a LowePro Apex 30 AW case
  • Brothers of Bushcraft Fieldcraft Knife
  • Canister of bear spray

    If I bring a backpack:

  • Camelbak Mule
  • ZebraLight H600w Mk II 18650 XM-L2 Headlamp Neutral White
  • Adventure Medical Kits - Ultralight / Watertight .7
  • Garmin Oregon 600 GPS unit
  • Marmot Precip jacket & pants (rain shell, packs tiny & light)
  • Leatherman New Wave
  • fire starter, paracord, compass, etc.

If nothing else & at all times:

  • flask of whisky (either Laphroaig or Green Spot)

But I live in the middle of nowhere, in bear and cougar territory; I bump into them quite often when out & about. Hell, I saw a cougar walking down our driveway a few days ago, and a black bear made a den/hibernated near our house a few winters ago. I also almost got trapped out in the bush when a forest fire started between me and home 2 summers ago. So, ya never know when exploring in the mountains here! Gotta be prepared.

I bring a camera, extra lenses, and a tripod, unless I think I'm going to be running/climbing. Also a bus pass, flashlight, water. I also bring a bandana to cover my face in case of hidden cameras, and maybe a knife just in case I run into trouble.
