Whilst on the way home from my last road trip a few weeks back we popped into a place I had been curious about for some time, British Xylonite, latterly Wardle Storeys, a former plastics manufacturer.

Years ago I can remember photos of this site when it was pretty much intact and really rather good, but fast forward many years, fifteen thousand fires, absolute destruction from idiots and demolition of some of the buildings and what you are left with is the opposite end of the scale, which can be at times just as photo-worthy as a completely untouched location in my eyes.

What makes this site extra weird is that the front half of the site contains a few active businesses, operating out of a few converted buildings from the former factory. The two halves of the factory are separated by a tunnel underneath a railway line that runs through the middle of the site, once you cross over that border it's like stepping foot in a different world.

We spent about an hour wandering around in an attempt to find the 'better' bits, as it stands this is probably a brilliant location if you are just getting into exploring, and to be honest I loved some of the decay here.

Very nice set. I can't decide which is my favorite, it's between 3 and 4.

Looks like a fun location and reminds me of one that just came down here last year. Old railroad tracks and activity just across the way. I never appreciated catwalks until recently either. There's something about having catwalks over catwalks over catwalks thats just so...awesome. Hard to explain, but it looks like there were a few there. I like the char from the fires too. Great shots.

Cool place! Looks like it has probably achieved a certain urban legend status all its own among local youth.
