This is so cool! I'm upset I never visited, I used to drive 209 a lot. Damn. I hope it's still around. I don't want that demo'ed. There's a diner like that here and it's one of my favorites. Almost a carbon copy of this one. Nice shots though looks like a good time!

Sorry, didn't realize the link I had bookmarked now requires that you now have to sign up to read the article

It's being moved to New Paltz and being saved!

From what I remember of the article, the owner sold it to someone in New Paltz for $1 provided they pay to have it moved and promised to re-open it. It's a win-win as it gets off the property and the current/former owner doesn't have to pay for the demolition...and the place gets saved.

I'll be sure to follow up on it down the line when it's re-opened and take a few pics of the place for a "Before and After" comparison.

That's awesome. It makes my bag all tingly.

Oh my gosh... Growing up in upstate NY there were so many of these diners. Now, living out here in CA I really miss them as there is nothing like them out here.

Thanks for the memories!

The absolute best breakfast I ever ate was in a diner in Lanoka Harbor, NJ at 5:30 on a freezing, snowy January morning in 2013. It was a complete stereotype. The waitress was sassy, had big hair and a lot of mileage on her. The patrons were all blue collar types, making veiled sexual proposals to the waitress all of which were rebuffed by comments on their own sexual prowess. The food was greasy, the coffee was strong, and I got what I felt was a taste of the real Jersey.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

I Love these kind of Diners. Use to frequent one in Florida on Vacation. Best Ham and Cheese omelet you ever had... and the coffee was so awesome you wanted to lick your cup before they served you more, lol. The color scheme and the shininess are Great! Enjoyed your pics. Glad when these places can be saved!

I saw the first picture and got excited because I thought that it was a diner in CT that a group of people were raising money to restore a few years ago, but then I read the article and saw that it was in NY. It makes me so happy to see abandoned things restored. Like puddlejumper said, I need to get back to New Paltz.

I was so glad to read that it was saved, only disappointed that I missed out on exploring it by a matter of days!

Diners like this are just one of the many reasons I love America...
