I took my kids with me and we blazed our way down to the old fortifications of Fort Mansfield to shoot the sunset. Mostly didn't get pictures of the fort since I've shot the inside before and didn't feel comfortable climbing down the ruins with two young kids.

Bonus picture - my daughter standing on the rocks looking cool:

Absolutely stunning as usual. Glad to see the next generation getting some exposure (pardon the pun) to the hobby. Great job man!

Edit:
I just showed these to Mrs. Ulcer who said, "Why can't you take pictures like that!" Anyone looking for a slightly used wife please send me a PM...

Thanks, man.

Yeah, so I went around the edge of the fence they put up there to see if there was a way I could safely let the kids go down and explore the lower part of the fort because they wanted to go down there. It's easy for an adult to skirt the plating and climb down the ladders, not so much for a kid.

So I'm edging along the fence, holding on so I don't fall 20 feet down and break something.

And I see my daughter - my 7 year old daughter - coming around the edge of the fence and holding on so she can start edging her way over. I had to tell her to turn back, but I think she'll take nicely to this whole thing when she's a bit older.

You know, old enough to climb fences and all, that is.

I know the feeling! I recently took my son exploring an outdoor location and insisted to my wife that it was safe; all outdoors, no basements, no crumbling stairways, etc. etc. Then a few weeks after our visit, our local fire chief fell head-first into a hole walking his dog on the property and died.

I love all your diverse treatments of the sky.

Nice. I take my 11 and 7 year olds to the forts in NH, we keep out of the really sketchy parts (most of which are fenced off anyway), they have a great time. Nice shots, I'd back off the HDR a bit but that's just me.
