TB Hospital

Constructed in 1915, this derelict hospital was originally built to treat patients suffering from tuberculosis. In the days before antibiotics were developed to better treat TB, the illness was such a major health concern that Ohio required each of its 88 counties to have a specialized TB hospital. In 1922, a smaller cottage-like building was added to house pediatric TB patients. By 1959, the hospital was accepting other patients and eventually became mostly an inpatient rehabilitation facility. The pediatric building eventually became home to abused or neglected children rather than ill ones. Children's Services used the building for this purpose until 1985. After the rehab facilities moved to another location, the hospital closed in 2010 and became vacant. Power was disconnected in 2012 and the buildings were boarded up. Although the property is patrolled frequently, it has still been heavily vandalized and boards are ripped down faster than the county can replace them. There is also a cemetery with 248 graves. It is set for demolition later this summer.

Anybody know what county this is in? A hospital/sanatorium/asylum explore has been on my to do list for ages. Unfortunately here in Southwest Ohio where I'm at all of those type locations have been shuttered and demo'ed for years.

Glad someone got to it before they brought it down. Was there any sign of security when you explored?

No problems at all with security. With that being said, I've heard the place is patrolled at least a few times per day and 60 people or so have been arrested there this year.

These are awesome. I really like the pediatric building. The fireplace sort of reminds me of Marlboro State Hospital in NJ (demolished now)

I had always wanted to visit this TB hospital since I first heard of it 6 years ago. Been to Ohio a bunch but never made it here

Nice morgue!!

Kabbalah is an undramatic tradition that requires great patience and stability. One of the reasons for this tempo is that everyone has to mature his potential gradually and thoroughly at his natural pace. In this way his life's work unfolds at the right moment in his own and the cosmos's time.

Has anyone been to this place since they started prepping it for demo? I have heard a lot of different reports about the security there. I have wanted to check this place out, and definitely should have before now, but was curious if anyone had any info. I know this is my first post, and I want to say great pics! I also have really been interested in urban exploring for quite some time, and hope to go on some explores of my own very soon!
