Yet another explore with mcrw and piplol from last year that I never got around to posting. This is only a little bit of what was once the largest charcoal blast furnace in Alabama, before and during the civil war. The plant was closed down in the early 20's, and the blast ovens and furnaces were demolished for scrap not long after. Today the smaller outlying buildings that were left standing operate as a all volunteer museum. Some of the buildings are kept in excellent condition, yet due to lack of funds and manpower others are deteriorating and in need of serious upkeep.
