My friend and I arrived at this location on an overcast afternoon. It's a decent-sized campus with several buildings, and as we made our way down the main road (closed to the public) it felt very post-apocalyptic.

We went in a few little houses that were meant for the doctors that worked in the wards but they were stripped of pretty much everything and there wasn't much to see. We then made our way to one of the larger buildings, one that had been where they housed the patients.

This room was pretty obviously staged. Two wire bed frames with pillows on them in a room that looked as if it had been used as a common room. It still made for an interesting photo:

Stripped but still fun
One of the things that made Pennhurst so much fun was all kinds of stuff was still there...

I always like to imagine what it would have been like to be in the building when it was in it's prime. Seeing the rooms with the tiny little hallway windows was interesting.

Also, there were quite a few misleading signs. Like "No Exit" where there was clearly a staircase to the bottom floor. I thought maybe to discourage the patients from trying to escape?

And then I found this gem:

I had no idea that they once used dixie cups for urine collection O_o

From your second photo, It looks like they took down the fence that had been around the campus. Did you see a fence at all?

Well nice to meet you! We appreciated your work when we went ^_^

I read an article today saying that the casino nearby has bought the land and has a 5 year plan to demolish his place :/

Is that a Connecticut thing? Several places in CT I've been have had the tree trunk doorways ^_^
