I took my kayak about a mile and a half into the ocean to this former WW2-era (technically, 1919 through 1950's but WW2-era sounds neater) torpedo plane base. Coming back was rougher than going out, but it was totally worth it!

I stayed the hell out of the northern part of the island though, since it's still owned by the Navy and there's active work going on there!

The rest are on my Flickr.

Any location only accessible by boat is bound to be awesome, and this looks like no exception. Shots 8 and 17 are especially cool. The island to the south of this one looks like it has some interesting leftovers as well.

Thanks, everyone.

It's a cool location, and there's at least two other islands right in the same area that appear to have other structures on them (one I actually saw on the drive in and made a mental note of for later). One is a much larger space but closer to a launch point, the other is a bit longer paddle (a couple miles each way) up on the north.

Planning to hit all of them in the next few weeks. I'm bringing a goddamn machete next time though - the brush was crazy on the interior of the island.

That's it! I've already contacted a real estate agent, my house is for sale and I'm on eBay listing all of my possessions. I will be driving up to Connecticut and stalking you! I'm hoping that just being in your presence will somehow rub off and make my photos a FRACTION as good as yours.

Omg...I think I'm in love with you!

Putting in some excellent work with that 750. Odd, we must be shopping out of the same catalogue - I got the same one last month, paired it with the 17-35mm though. Your shots are making me wish I went with the 16. The optical quality seems better than what I get.

The whole set is spot on, mate.

Thanks a lot.

I've always been a big fan of the Tokina wide lenses - I use the 11-16mm on my D7000 and it's excellent quality, the 16-28mm is even better.

The D750 is an amazing camera. I have a friend who shoots the 810 and he actually recommended the 750 - slightly better in low light and the files aren't quite as computer-crashingly huge while still providing plenty of resolution.

Very cool, well done. That structure in #1 looks fun as hell, were you able to access that?
