Textile Factories

So my whole life I've been looking into braving an old textile factory, and googling has revealed nothing specific. I've looked on the site, and it's yielding no results and before I devote too much time, I'd like to make sure I'm not wasting it. I'm not asking for specific locations or coordinates because that's a terrible idea, but if anyone knows whether such a thing does in fact still exist in North America, It'd send me over the moon. Thanks!

Most have been converted to warehouses and such. Philly -was- the textile capital of the world but that was over a 100 years ago.

Others have been abandoned more recently I'm sure, but it will take some digging to find them and then determine what if anything is left. There are some active ones (at least one) as well if you want to tour one of those.

We have quite a few textile mills in the New England area (I live in an area that was big during the industrial revolution). I've explored a few, but like what was said earlier, most of them have had the machinery removed. A lot of them are being gutted to be repurposed for apartment buildings or storage areas.

What I usually do is follow the river paths on google earth and look for dilapidated roofs of large buildings. I then do a little research so I can see if it's being developed or not and then I do a drive by to check it out. I don't know if there's a quick and easy way to just know what is going to be a good location. Just have to do the work

There are lots of abandoned textile mills in the South Eastern US. My father was a Research Chemist in them for many years. There are about 5 in my general area, so they do exist.

I've just spent the last hour researching a textile factory in Texas that I stumbled across by chance. Despite even knowing its location and name, my results have been pretty scarce, save for a couple old newspaper articles about the plant's eventual bankruptcy and subsequent dissolution via the auction block.
I guess I say all of that just to say, many (if not most) of the best locations I've explored, have had little or no online information on them. This holds especially true for the ones that have not been added to any known DB, UER or otherwise. The most fruitful locations I've come across, with one huge exception, have been by dumb luck or spending more time than I care to admit on Google Earth. It takes time, but I promise, your effort will pay off if you keep at it. Having a pathological map obsession like I do doesn't hurt your chances either.
