It can still be accessed, although I wouldn't do it again. Its pretty unsafe and the cops are parked in like every parking lot around the casino! It was an awesome night for sure! this was in March.

I'm surprised you got away with it especially since you seem to be silhouetted against the skyline. They could easily extend the casino surveillance to the furnaces, I'm amazed they didn't. Quit sloppy of them
All that said, much of what was there is gone.
Worse the danger is real and not getting better. I go in predawn on by the tracks and wait for light in the super structure because of the hazards then. Ten years ago that was fairly dangerous and not for the faint of heart or inept.
Once the furnaces were shut down there was nothing to drive the moisture out and corrosion ran rampant on the catwalks and smaller supporting steel infrastructure. Hardest hit are the main decking plates and catwalk floors. There's been no maintenance in over 20 years. As you witnessed steel stair steps have been deliberately cut out 4 or 5 at a time. Open elevator shafts, open huge and man sized holes in the furnace deck plating and missing hand rails. At ground level holes, some deep and other hazards. As much as one might like to climb the largest furnace, the rungs may no longer be intact enough. They -looked- intact 10 years ago.
If spotted they can effectively perimeter you in now more so than ever. Expect them to use binoculars. If RR personal see you they will dime you out.
A foggy night be best...
Meh, saddle up a buzz-buzz if you dare
