Thought I'd post about one of my very first explores. I don't think it's a very big secret, but it's an interesting building and it had some beautiful stonework in it.

This was a carriage house and stables that was part of a large estate that was seized during WWII in order to set up a defense battery. It was given back to its owners after the war but the property was left unused for quite some time and the main house was eventually destroyed after a fire in the 60s. This is all that's left.

Good stuff. Interesting to see the progression from when I was there about nine years ago. A large section of the roof has come down.

An unique structure. The first stable I've seen with a concrete roof and not flat at that.
Very unusual. Too bad it's on its way out...
Great post, Little Sister

Anyone know when it was built?
I'm thinking circa 20's.

We explore a lot of the same spots, surprised I haven't seen you during my travels 😂 It's a small state.

The gentleman who originally had the main house built died in 1915, so it could be earlier than that or it's possible the stables were erected after the main house was. The guy that built the original property was a big collector of Egyptian artifacts and it was said that he built the house to house his collection. It would be nice to have so much money that I could just build a separate house for all the crap I own.

Edited for horrendous autocorrect fails.

You first and last photos are awesome! I can just imagine how lovely this place once was before the war.
