Abandoned power plant substation and accompanying tailrace tunnels.

Old turbines, connecting tunnels and the large tailraces make up the basement levels of this plant. The upper levels contain various sights, such as electrical distribution equipment, lockers, and long tunnels with street names over where the electric supply connections to different areas of Minneapolis used to be.

Part of the generating station is still active, but it has been bolted and welded with thick metal plates, making access from the abandoned section impossible. Light still shines out from several doors that connect the two parts.

Fortunately or unfortunately, this location seems to be becoming less and less of a secret as time goes by.

Pardon any blur/graininess, all photos taken with my GS6 edge.

I'm behind the camera. Both of the guys in the pictures are my friends, not myself.

As to the graffiti, there are hundreds of sharpie tags in several places inside, going back well over a decade, some as old as '93. I hardly think one more will make a difference.

Happy exploring.

After viewing this thread, it really makes me wonder why this place is no longer secretive.

If every person that went there had that same mentality, I wouldn't even bother ever going. Oh well, I guess its the cool thing to destroy beautiful stuff from the 1800s..

Can we just create a separate board for MSP so that us other Great Lakers don't have to deal with it? There seems to be an unusually high percentage of fuckwits up yonder.

I mean I'm good just leaving things the way I found them... The more time you spend coloring on/destroying cool shit means less time looking at said cool shit.

Hey, don't group us all together. Some of us like brick.

Speak for yourself.
I stand with MSP.
Brickwork and historic structures are better off without fuckwits taggin' 'em all up.

EDIT: I may have read your comment wrong. I'm not sure.

I meant that the fuckwits tagging them up are a big problem. You know I don't stand for trashing things.
I meant that, in between the various clique-like exploring groups in MSP and the smashy noobs who keep upsetting them, there is more drama centered around MSP than pretty much anywhere else in the Midwest. (Except Gary or Chicago, on occasion.)

Gotchya. I guess that's what happens when you have some of the best underground exploring in the U.S. and a giant community/new "explorers" all the time.

Yeah that picture (20) graphicly sums up who you are.
As far as I'm concerned you are the tagger since you think you need to show us that shit.
