This former textile factory complex demonstrates an interesting dichotomy in how a community can view its abandonments. On one hand, it recognizes the historical and aesthetic value of these buildings and their ability to attract visitors; photo tours are occasionally offered, and the visitor's center is filled with images from the various buildings. On the other hand, the majority of the central factory has already been demolished, and work crews were working steadily on other portions of it during our visit. The atmosphere as a result was a little jarring, allowing us to be open and unconcerned about our intentions in certain areas, and requiring us to be sneaky in others. While I've seen others on this site post photos from this place under its real name, I've chosen to use a pseudonym for it, due to the "unofficial" nature of our tour.
This is the first time I've been pleased enough with the overall quality of the photos I shot At one location to post them here as a set, rather than in a regional forum. Enjoy!

That specific building was apparently a rag factory. We found piles of denim scraps all over the place.
I guess i should've read your commentary. Oops. Hah. The reason i asked is because i've seen those big "gear-type" pieces in a pulp mill, and i've always wondered what they were part of/for.

Really nice mix of photographic styles. I'm looking through these and thinking like the organizer of one of the photo tours you mentioned - I can't imagine any one of these shots being an area open to the public! They seem full of liability hazards everywhere. Great on the community for trusting some personal responsibility!
