Took a recent trip out to the bay area and checked out a few spots you all may recognize and others you may not. I also went out to Calaveras County to where they had a massive fire - and drove through some back roads - capturing the destruction of mother nature. I think I got the photo compression down for the forums to keep their higher quality and not be fuzzy. We shall see.

One of the locations we got escorted off by a local ranger, so unfortunately didn't get to explore the entire property. However, I have my eyes set on an abandoned mansion high in the mountains above the bay - one which has a large fallout shelter underneath. I'll be checking that out within the next couple months.

Nice location. I'll have to check it out sometime. Were you escorted off of the coastal/port location?

Negative. We had permissions to access that location as it is heavily guarded. I was unaware that the other location was even a concern to rangers - being as how it is on public lands and hiking trails lead right to it - however I stand corrected. lol.

Thanks for the comment bud.

I think I know where those cars are, but maybe I'm wrong - I've seen something similar to it close to the city. Again, would love to check out these locations. Let me know if you guys hit them up anytime soon.

Great shots. Really dig the look and feel of the Northern Cal stuff. I feel like that whole East Bay area is the last bastion for California exploration right now.

I'm headed up to the bay area around June or July for a few days. It would be great to meet up and explore if you have the time.

Unfortunately a lot of things are getting torn down so high rise apartments can be built on top of it........super irritating. Oh well haha there are still some good locations out there.

With a lot of our super high profile places gone now over the last 10 years, it just means we're going to have to work a little harder as a community to discover the more hidden gems lurking all around us.

Great shots! I especially like the ones of the 'control room' looking out toward the bridge. Cheers!
