New guy here with some pics!

I found a dilapidated house while walking around town in Austin, Texas one day. Hyde Park area specifically. I scouted it from the outside and then made plans with my friends to pay it a visit days later. Nothing special besides a.... very nasty surprise you'll see in my gallery link. It was mostly empty, save for a dumbwaiter and a nasty bandage and two doors upstairs where locked. When we where walking away thinking our curiosity was satisfied, we noticed that the windows upstairs where connected by the roof. So we went back upstairs and opened a window and walked on the roof to get into the other window and found a pretty neat bathroom.

There's a car or truck mirror screwed into the shower for some reason, probably to shave. But that whole bathroom is pretty much a sauna, if you where to take a hot shower. No ventilation. There where some mops outside and labels on the kitchen cabinets which made us think it was a party house, and the fact that it's close to UT.

Sorry if these are of poor quality, I'm not a professional photographer but I did take it with my iPhone 6S Plus which has a pretty good camera. I probably should of used the flash instead of my flash light.

...that place looks preeeeeeeetty shady. O.o

It wasn't, really. It's in a decent part of town. College kids probably used it for parties so they wouldn't have to worry about trashing their own places.

Really nice Austin find, but I'm surprised it's in Hyde Park. You'd think developers'd be all over that.

They.....might be. It's lifetime might be 1 year, don't know for sure.

I live in Austin. I too am surprised that someone hasn't scooped up this place to resale for a ridiculous amount of money. Love seeing the old dumbwaiters in houses

Yeah, if it's in the area he said it is, I doubt it would stay up for too long. I remember going into at least two (granted far more wasted) houses in the similar area but, not surprisingly, I was only able to get access as they were already on way for demolition. One or two months later, bam, brand new duplex taking its place. Right now I'm crossing my fingers that this one is an oddball out there. Better get looking.
