 | The Old Powerhouse

| I took a trip up to an abandoned powerhouse up past Sooke yesterday. I decided to take my sister (H) along with me since there's no security at this place and she'd been wanting to come along with me. Driving up, we somehow got turned around and had to end up parking and checking the map, only to realize we were parked across the street from the trailhead. The walk out to the place alone is worth the drive, absolutely beautiful. After about five minutes of walking, we reached the powerhouse.

The place is huge and unfortunately very well known, so it's covered in graffiti. Within about two minutes of arriving, H nearly fell into one of the many holes in the floor. There's three buildings in total on the property, the main powerhouse, a small garage like structure and a one-room house.

The smaller structures aren't particularly interesting (empty breaker boxes, satanic graffiti, graffiti about fucking in the woods, etc.)

H went to look in another room while I took pictures of the holes in the ceiling. She came back a few minutes later trying to scare me with stories about body parts under the floor. Turns out there are actually a few.

In the same room, we found stairs down into the lower levels. They were partially flooded, though, and we hadn't brought any boots (next trip). I got some ok pictures with my flash on.

After a couple of hours, we had to start the drive home. I'm definitely coming back at a later date with some proper boots (and perhaps not my sister in tow).
