This is it! The mill that I used to drive by on my way to college. The one that got me thinking about urban exploration. When my marriage crumbled, I decided this was definitely my first stop. It's got a great name-- Hope.
Anyways, first trip here, I just checked out the outside of it. It's a gorgeous mill, built in 1806. A 4 story granite mill plus a sawtooth building (the roof on the sawtooth unfortunately collapsed due to snow. I did not go in this one yet.)
There's also a generator/utility building that still hums despite not being used in over a decade.
Anyways, next trip, I took a friend with me and we were brave enough to go in!
(Not very tight security here. Some guy having a bonfire at his house did give me a side eye though.)
At the top, there was a basketball hoop set up.
And through a door was a small green office. There was a license atop a placard commemorating a man's death. I wonder if this was his office ten years ago?
Anyways, all in all, a very cool place to explore. Some graffiti, it's a little dark on some floors, and there's lots of bird shit. I took plenty more pictures but I will respect the 25 picture limit and make a second thread if there's interest.
