Everything will work out Dee, then you won't have this hanging over your head. It will be a relief.

Greystone. My parents seemed to think that I'd be sitting in atrocious traffic on my way there, so I decided to invite a friend who has a slight interest in abandoned things so I'd have someone to keep me company/entertained on my way there. My friend and I picked a day to go see it, and then a few days before we were supposed to go, he told me that there was a chance he'd be ordered into work. He ended up texting me the day before we were supposed to go that he had, as predicted, been ordered into work. We were never able to plan another day to go see it, and now I'm still mentally kicking myself for not packing some books and snacks in my car and going myself.

I also regret not seeing an abandoned mansion in my town that burned down a few weeks ago. What makes it more upsetting is the fact that the fire was determined to be arson, which came a few years after someone bought the property to keep the previous owners from demolishing it to build condos.

I know the title of this thread is "ONE Greatest Regret," but I equally regret not seeing either place.

Not being born sooner. So many great places I've missed due to the semi-recent demo spree in Milwaukee.

Also, sharing photos on the "Wisconsin Abandoned" and "Wisconsin Photographers" facebook pages and seeing the places I loved become trashed. (I was careful to not share locations, but other people would name drop, or figure it out on their own.)

Telling someone about a location that was almost unknown to the public. Only for them to go, photograph it and post it all over facebook. It burnt down last month.

Zipped lips forever. I knew better.

Oh, well that's fine I guess. Drop hints about how you're about to go to prison and don't mention what for. Sure.

She hasn't replied, so I'm wondering if she's been remanded to custody.

We should unite and plan a jailbreak, a la The A-Team.

Haha, luckily, it is only a misdemeanor offense, so it could be worse. That said, the "deal" that the DA offered makes me think he wants it to go to trial, because he basically maxed out the punishment allowable for a class A misdemeanor. His offer was the maximum fine amount, 2 years probation, and a bunch of other crap that doesn't even have anything to do with the case, he just kind of threw it in there to make it worse, it seems like. As much as I want to avoid a trial, it would appear that I have (almost) nothing to lose at this point.
That also means this will drag on for probably at least another year.
Ugh.

But on the bright side, I have the unique opportunity to watch the wheels of our great legal system at work, as well as getting to experience the excitement of fighting the Dallas rush hour commute at least once a month indefinitely while waiting for the grand finale - a trial.
I find myself incredibly uninspired by this process.

Heh, BIG sympathy from my end Dee... totally not UE related my end, but I know exactly how you feel.

On a UE note, my biggest regret is not fully exploring the Zizkov TV tower in Prague fully... during renovation they left the fire exit open, giving full access to the service deck. Climbed all the way to the top of a lower dome (the rocket booster looking part) and sat out on top, what a VIEW! Clinging onto a little rail on a scorching hot metal roof, honestly one of the memories I'll take to my grave, I simply couldn't believe my luck!

The service deck was open too, but it was pitch black inside, and extremely noisy with all the cooling systems... didn't have the balls to go in just in case someone turned up, we'd never hear them coming. I've no idea how the Czech authorities would react to two idiots climbing to the top of a TV tower! Shame, we could have almost certainly accessed the main spire... although I'm not sure how wise that would have been, given that we'd have been climbing on the inside of a (presumably active) UHF array. I'd almost have been willing to risk sprinting up the spiral staircase (or climbing like a chimp) past the antenna to get to the spire...

Found this absolutely beautiful abandoned cemetery in the middle of nowhere, on a perfect foggy morning. Whipped out my camera only to discover i'd forgotten my SD card. Had my phone, took a few neat shots. it wasn't the same...

Another big regret more generally speaking is thinking you won't need a tripod in a location then thinking about all the shots you could have gotten had you taken it with you...

Every freaking time I do this to myself, I say, "never again!" I believe that I will learn from my mistake, but sadly, I still do this from time to time, as a testament to my occasional bouts of laziness when it comes to lugging camera gear around with me.
