I did a photoshoot for my band delugée not too long ago. Attached are some photos I took, I would love some feedback. These photos were taken in an abandoned building in Los Angeles that I stumbled upon. Looking forward to what everyone thinks

1) Good light on the faces! The photo feels heavier on the right side. Did you intentionally pair lighter subject with the light exit and the darker with the dark side? I think there can be an interesting effect there, but it the larger, lighter subject on the side with the lit exit the photo definitely seems a bit unbalanced.

I've found that the "exits" or the routes out of your photo are pretty important and have to be used intentionally.

2) Interesting subjects. Not sure the staging quite does anything for me. I would like to see what you could do with some different backgrounds.

3) The textures and colors are cool. I would take a close look at focus and depth of field. Parts of the face are very sharp but the rose and the top half of the background are just slightly out of focus. You can intentionally use a shallow depth of field for effect, or try to keep everything in focus, but this seems stuck in between. In shots like this where you are unsure, try bracketing the aperture up and down a stop or two and see what effect you like better.

Looks like a cool location. Keep it up.

To be honest I didn't take these things into consideration. Really great advice, seriously man. Thank you! I'm going to be thinking about these things more in the future.

I really like that first photo! The lighting is fantastic.

One thing to remember about band photos though is that a lot of the time they're used for promotional purposes about an upcoming album, or show, or tour or something. So while the first photo is great, it's always good to have some photos with some blank/plain parts in the background or something so that text can be put over the photo without it looking to "busy" where the text is. Anyway, nice work!
