I've been in the "most haunted building in the United States" and walked around in dark tunnels connecting the patient wards with a dead flashlight and nothing happened. Also as per my every explore peed somewhere inside. No ghosts.

My friend manhandled me up a roof once.

not while exploring, but when I bought my house 5 years ago we got someone in to cleanse it within the first two months because every night around 2-3 AM would get worse and worse. started with cupboards slamming shut and cups smashing on the counter. the last night before we got help was intense, a box of shoes got thrown down the stairs and and I woke up next to my ex who was lying down paralyzed with her eyes open staring up at the ceiling, i tried shaking her but she couldn't talk and it sounded like my son (who was 2 at the time) walked out his room and out the front door of the house (our bedroom was bellow his in the basement). I went up and he was asleep in bed but his bedroom door that I had closed after putting him to bed was open and the front door was locked from the inside. Before I got to his room i walked through the kitchen where most of the activity occurs and all my body hair stood on end and it felt like i was being watched and laughed at... Never felt anything like that before or ever again, it was like a presence was watching me, but in the form of a fog that was along the entire top edge of the wall where it meets the ceiling. so when i walked in the room it felt like eyes where on me from every direction but just one entity. I could not see anything, but i felt it, it was in my head laughing.

I never really believed in ghosts until experiencing that.
I still live in the same house, my ex thinks it's cursed even though there hasn't been issues ever since it's been cleansed. Mostly because within minutes of finalizing the paper work and officially owning the house I got a call from my ex, she was at the hospital. Our daughters heart stopped in her womb, she was due in two days.

I'm really sorry to hear that, man. I hope you're doing alright

Hellholes and collapsing floors spook me.

Unfortunately the UER expert on paranormal activity, Lord Rick, is on an extended sabbatical. He was last seen going into an Area 51 minefield in search of alien non-corporeal entities or possibly a blind date.

Ghost hunting was kind of a stepping stone that got me into urbex, but so far nothing crazy. Still, I've had some weirdness.

- Sounds of footsteps and doors closing are fairly common. Once, while exploring a burned-out floor of a hospital, I very clearly heard shuffling feet that moved from room to room as I followed, before stopping abruptly.

- I didn't see it myself, but two members of my group swear they saw a person in the hollow space behind a hole in the wall.

- Not sure if this was paranormal or the result of not wearing a respirator in a basement - I walked from room to room, through a hole in the wall, a maze of machinery and pipes, and back to the stairs again in a daze that seemed to last about 5 minutes, while I could hear muffled yelling in the dark.

The video shows the whole thing - it's only a minute long, and I just kind of move between three or four rooms before turning around and heading back up the stairs, with me constantly bumping into my friend and yell-whispering "There's nothing here, let's go."

Bonus false alarm: I was reviewing the footage of an explore, and at one point I was certain you could hear a clear female scream that I didn't hear at the time. I played it over and over, and it was unmistakable. I kept listening for more, and after a short time, I heard it again! And again. Eventually I realized what it was - the air I was exhaling from my mask was hitting the camera's mic in a weird way.

This isn't quite paranormal and didn't happen to me but it would have scared the crap out of me if it did:

Going to area-51 would be filled with bad experiences all around. However I've always wanted to go to an old military base, or maybe a nuclear bunker/reactor

Decommissioned ones are fun and ok to do most times.

Wow...

I can't believe how tame this thread is. Discussion of this is typically met with extreme derision. Check this link out as an example.

http://www.uer.ca/...urrpage=1&pp#post0

I don't believe in ghosts AT ALL. I've seen and had some extremely weird shit happen to me while exploring and at an old house I lived in but nothing I would be willing to say, "That was a ghost". Just weird shit that I can't logically explain.

After 19 years of my ex-wife, absolutely NOTHING scares me anymore.

Afterall, well this IS an urban exploring website and there are plenty of other websites for paranormals and ghostbusters to hang out and swap ghost stories.

If you encountered something unworldly or had a spiritual experience WHILE urban exploring we will let it run.

that is until the derision and trolling starts

Found a closed door leading to a large room in a building once. Opened it. Suddenly there was a ton of noise and movement coming from every direction. Pretty startling.

As it turned out, a hundred or so pigeons were roosting in there and i'd scared them, and they were all diving out the one broken window.

Oops, I forgot to add that part, but yes, I was leaning that way. Apologies for the confusion.

It was an abandoned military dorm building. Dead silent throughout. Certainly not police. Too much movement from every direction to comprehend what i was seeing for a few seconds, extremely disorienting too. But there's no way it could have been mistaken for people.

My friends ditched me in an abandoned mental hospital. There was a crosswind blowing doors open and closed every few seconds. The place was rumoured to be the most haunted location in the country but I could tell it was just the wind.

Whenever I go to an abandonment now with a door blowing in the wind, I prop it closed and call that an exorcism.

I'd buy a shotgun and name it exorcism, and exorcise any door that blew open/closed for what reason have you

Hmm, maybe putting airholes in a door would keep it from blowing in the wind. It probably wouldn't be effective against any hypothetical ghosts though, but I could probably hold the cops off to make my escape.

I actually had my knife blessed by my buddies granddad who's a priest for S&G in case some spooky specter wants to throw some hands
