I miss exploring with my dad. Although it was more of the ghost towns we would off road to and then wander around in out in the deserts of the Southwest. Fun times! Keep it up!

. . . and then I rode off on my Dragon Chariot . . .

He's been on a couple if explores and seems to be more in to it. He's a helluva lot more limber than I am and can get into places I won't go. I'm afraid this may be my last year of exploring. I'm just not as physically able as I was so I'm hoping he'll get into it and show his old man all the places still on my bucket list.

I first started exploring with my grandmother, of all people. I remember wandering into an old two-story house near Deep Creek in Wise County back in the early 80's pretty vividly. We went cellar to attic in that place and it was awesome.

Even at 40, I still explore with my mom and dad in places. Last place we all went was a ghost town's church near Tyler...or one near Weatherford...hard to remember. Lots of ghosts towns around these parts are pretty much cemeteries and churches and historical markers. (like i'm telling you guys anything new here)

As soon as my children get old enough, you can bet I'll be taking them. I've got a few years to go yet, considering I've got one-year-old twins. I do, however, have an adult daughter from a previous marriage who is all sorts of daring and interested in this stuff. She sent me pics a few weeks ago of an abandoned building she found and inquired about. She's got the explorer gene after all, it seems.

Great that you can take your son out on some adventures. It's great bonding and gives the next generation an appreciation for the past that I don't see a lot of them getting anymore.

small children are useful for inserting through windows or vents to go through the inside of a building to unlock the door

A return trip to a stockyard, this time with Murky7 and his buddy. This place isnt very exciting but I love the area where they did the auctions!
Frankly, I'm glad I got to see it one more time. This place is a tinderbox just waiting to go up in flames. Other than it being attached to an old antique store, I have no idea why it hasnt been completely trashed yet.
