This is a very famous north-eastern location, so it needs no introduction. I'll skip right to the story.

The first time I visited this location I was told the easiest way to enter was from an adjacent park. Taking that advice, we parked nearby and headed toward the location. After having been there no longer than 3 minutes, a NYPD cruiser pulls up and drives across the lawn to interview us. We weren't trespassing yet, but it was clear we were scoping out the building. They told us someone from a nearby building calls the cops when they see suspicious people going toward the building, and then told us to go home or be arrested if we try again.

For reasons unrelated to the story, I decided to take the train home, which happens to be near this location. While waiting for my train, someone hopped off the platform and walked straight into the building. I felt a little jealous - I just got kicked out with the threat of arrest and this guy hops off a train platform and goes right in. I suppose the park-side has more lines of sight to residential buildings than the train side, so maybe that's how it's done.

I decided that the train platform was the way to go in, and yesterday I finally had a chance to take a stab at it. After riding the train up, I too hopped off the platform and retraced the previous explorers steps. Once inside, I found that it was rather crowded. 10 or so guys and gals were filming a hip-hop music video. Another couple seemed to be on a date taking photos together. At one point, someone arrived from the park-side and started yelling at the building to let her in! I thought we were donzo at that point, but luckily she didn't draw too much attention.

Anyway, we spent an hour or two there, and covered the building thoroughly. Below I'll start with some delicious 360 panoramas, and below that some regular photos.

01: On the bridge connecting the boiler building to the turbine building:

02: From the roof of the turbine building:

03: Large empty floor of the turbine building:

04: The turbines!

05: Turbines again, 'cause they're cool:

06: Top story of north half of the boiler building:

07: From the roof of the boiler building:

08: Ground view:

09: Basement of the south half of the boiler building:

10: A small room towards the back of the property, over water - probably some kind of cooling area.

Annnndd now for some regular pictures:

11: Pano of the two buildings. Left: boiler building. Right: turbine building.

12: The bridge connecting the two buildings:

13: Pano from the otherside, under the bridge. Left: turbine, Right: boiler.

14: We started in the turbine building, and found some cool mosaic work on the floor.

15: Found 'em:

16: Though kinda boring, I really like the clean empty floor in this room:

17: Close up of the turbines:

18: We took the bridge to the boiler building:

19: I call that haircut, the Freedom-Cut

20: 3rd story pano of this iconic building:

21: From the end:

22: The crane, as seen from the roof:

23: Pano from inside the bucket of a cherry picker - this is the southern half of the boiler building:

The panoramas are a really nice touch, shame they aren't level, but still cool.

I love most of the panoramas.

My friend manhandled me up a roof once.

Thx. Yeah, it's hard to keep em level without a tripod, however I think there's a software tool to level them somehow. I'll have to look into it!
