I haven't done a whole lot of exploring, but I've checked out the paper mill a couple of times (I live in Ypsi). I was going to make a trip out to the Northville Psych Ward, but didn't really want to go it alone with all the cops there.
Thanks

From what I've heard, most of Northville is either torn down or HEAVILY watched by cops. The last I heard, it was an almost guaranteed arrest.

I live in Westland, but my job has kept me almost too busy to explore. I'm hoping to change that this summer.

I was at Northville last fall - the only demo that has gone on is the old power plant and perhaps a few other accessory buildings. There's lots to see here but the tall main building is one of the more boring parts...the outlying buildings have a lot more stuff inside still.

As far as cops are concerned, don't enter from the front and stay off the rooftops. I've heard that they give out tickets here, they don't arrest.

There's a good writeup on the place here

Thanks for the info! I was planning on going in through a trail in the back by Ward. There are also supposed to be a bunch of tunnels that are still easy to get into

I've read that write-up, actually. I liked this one a lot too:

I saw nobody on my recent trip to Northville. It was too quiet.

Dig the set kenfagerdotcom! I also really enjoyed the shadowplay off of the windows. Great light on campus. It's a shame that such a beautifully designed complex fell into such extreme overcrowding and malpractice.

Airports - what a great link! His storytelling style is hilarious and engaging. Really cool perspective on the place, too.

Wow- those photos are awesome. Thank you for posting. I'm going to feel real bad if I go in with a dumpy disposable cam, haha

Pongo: He also did a post on the Ypsi Asylum-which was neat enough on its own- that included a video tape made by the staff that I think he found while digging around.

I wish I could have seen the ypsi hospital.

I should qualify that my info is probably horribly out of date. Last I knew of this was about 2012-2013ish when my bf's sister lived practically across the street from the place.

I think a trip there may need to happen now.

I really do need to get out more, but lately it's been 50+ hour work weeks. Between that and car work, it seems I barely have time to sit anymore.
