This is my first real attempt at photography.

Before I jump into the pics, a small bit of clarification. I meant to post this set at some point last week, but schoolwork got in the way and I'm only just now getting time to post it. Oh well, better late than never.

On Feb. 21, in preparation for a photography elective at my school, I managed to convince my father to drive me down to Medfield State. Yes, I don't have my drivers license yet, but he was happy to help if it meant practice for an upcoming class. So, down south we went, and soon enough, we were there. Weather was pretty nice. Overcast with a slight breeze, but temps. stayed in the mid-50's, making for an overall comfortable day. However, a lot of people were on the grounds, so trying to get into any of the buildings was out of the question, but it was nice to see that people are interested in the property and its history.

If I ever make it out here again before redevelopment begins, I'll have to attempt to get inside at least one of the buildings, but for now, I'll just have to admire them from the outside and hope that they will be preserved.

Anyway, onto the pics! (These are just my favorites. The rest, including some taken by my dad, are here: https://imgur.com/a/9eKVd)

1. We Three Chimneys

2. North Street Homes

3. AIT

4. House of the Holy

5. Love Hangs Around

6. Infirmary

7. Administration

8. Chapel on the Hill

the mass asylums seem to be tough. i recently did a hospital in the area and struggled greatly with army ranger type security they tried hard but we prevailed and got to see wuite a few buildings before running into a temp blockade, being only 12 miles from Btown i understand the concern with recent vandalism but DAMN

I'll try!

Yeah. Mass is very strict when it comes to trespassing laws from what I've read. Minimum is a $100 fine, Max is a month in the clink. It's not always enforced, though. No sign of any guards at Medfield, just a bunch of locals who probably would've ratted me out to the cops.

Army level security? Where you trying to get into the Fernald School? That's the only place I've heard of with that intense of a security force. That and maybe Westborough...

You should definitely get up there soon. Rumor has it redevelopment is going to start sometime in the spring, but I think the town wants to preserve what they can, at least of the core campus buildings.
