It isn't very often now I see something so unique and unusual that I can genuinely say 'I have never seen something like that before', but this factory, nestled in a small village in the north west of England delivers on that front.

At the time of closure in 2010 it was the oldest surviving furniture manufacturer in the UK and shut it's doors after 'irregularities' in the pension fund and the owners refusal to take a £1million grant from an investor to keep the factory open.

After taking the long muddy hike to get to the factory in order to avoid the locals whose houses overlook the only road past the site we eventually found a way in which involved us getting even more covered in crap but the efforts were totally worth it. It's not the biggest factory by any means and we probably missed stuff in the outbuildings but it was a very enjoyable wander in a beautiful part of the world.
